Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom wants to build a second wave pool near the park's main entrance because the current pool gets packed on hot summer days. The $4.5 million project — officially named Wave Pool II — is scheduled to open for the 2006 season. It would be about one-third smaller than the current wave pool.

The old wave pool, is in my opinion too small to begin with. To build a smaller pool just will not assist in alleviating crowds, as they will flock to the new one, and over crowd that one. Build the Mambo sized pool, (good name), then re-furb the old one and make it for families only. That would be a great asset to Dorney.

Cedar Point's Soak City has only 1 wave pool (though, granted, they do have two laze rivers which eat up capacity) and it is one of the "smaller" ones.
Didn't they just refurbish the existing pool a few seasons back? EDIT: Scratch that--that was '04.

They already have two lazy rivers to help, but another pool is needed - badly. And on top of that - the positioning of it is really just the start of the next expansion of Wildwater Kingdom.

And I agree, I think there will be more additions to the waterpark coming soon. The spot where Wave Pool 2 (right out of RCT!) is larger than just the size of the pool. There will be plenty of room left over to add some slides and other attractions.
