Dorney Plans to Add a ride!

From the Morning Call Newspaper:

The laser light shows and fireworks will end at Dorney Park & WWK, but a new ride unavailable anywhere else in the nation could be installed in their place for next season, according to John Albino VP & GM of DP.

In addition, the park plans to tear down and rebuild the Center Stage outdoor theater.

The stage will be built on the south side of the theater, which will be next to the food stands.

The new, as yet unnamed, ride will be built where the 71-foot laser screen is, near Whitewater Landing and the Hercules roller coaster.

The hydraulic ride consists of 2 57-foot-high swinging arms with 24 seats attached at the base.

The arms rotate and swing the riders up 67 feet high.

The riders will swing into a pit at the base of the ride.

The only other ride like it is at an amusement park in Europe.

The article goes on about some other stuff, but thats basically it. Does anybody know what the ride is?

TALON rocks! Peace out!

I would guess something along the lines of a Zamperla Windshear.

Shaggy

Gosh...how do people know all this stuff?
Or a Huss Giant Frisbee.

Actually I now know from **ahem** elswhere.

It is a Zamperla hawk (I think that is it's trade name.)  It's what the Aero 360 at Kennywood is.

Shaggy

A) Dorney already has a Huss Topspin. A Windshear doesn't match specs, plus it would be redundant. B) I agree the Hawk sounds like a possibility, but, it says at the end of the article that there's only one, and it's in Europe. So I think you're wrong Shaggy.

Trust me on this.

Shaggy

Isn't Aero 360 at Kennywood a Vekoma Air Jumper? I'm pretty sure it is. So yes, this would be the first of it's kind in North America.
No, Aero 360 at Kennywood is a Zamperla Hawk. It looks different because it was a custom design.  That way they got the look of the Kennywood Arrows.

Shaggy

Aero 360 is a Zamperla Hawk...believe the man on this one....

oh...here's what could be coming to Dorney...looks about the same as the 360...

It's the Zamperla Hawk 48....the number being the amount of passengers it holds total.  Looks pretty cool.  I can only imagine that the laser light show will be heading to MIA.  We are supposed to get one so I'm sure that's where it will be coming from.

My guess would be the Omegatron from Worlds of Fun that was just taken out.  It's a Vekoma Sky Flyer which it was the only one in the USA.

No, Omegatron is going to Michigan's Adventure.  The Dorney model is a brand new unit coming from Zamperla.

Shaggy

Listen to the Shag man, he knows more than the reporter who wrote the story...
Shaggy knows all, sees all.  Don't doubt his authority.  Shaggy...Hawk 24 or 48?  PLEASE let it be the 48....higher capacity means even more rides for me!

If you see me running, try and keep up!

Well you probable right, the seats don't match the same number that Omegatron has but Omegatron seems not to be headed to Michigan's Adventure. Another ride at WoF seems to begoing instead.

Perhaps a huss giant jump?

"who needs drugs when you have coasters...they're like a natural high"
They said there is only one like it and it is in Europe, and some of you people are saying that it is an Aero 360 or whatever its called which is also at Kennywood. And I dont think Dorney would lie.  I looked at the pic from the link that MI Trooper gave, and where is a pit? Is the pit considered that loading platform or something?

We will all see when the ride is officially approved by the township and they release the plans.
