Dorney Park trip?

I'm going to Dorney Park on the 21stand I'd like to know if anyone has any info for me cause I've never been there before. How is the rides there like Talon, Steel Force and Dominator? I know they added Meteor this year which is cool cause I've already been on Areo 360.What about there waterpark Wildwater Kingdom, how is it and what rides are good in that area? and what about hotels in the area?

For hotels, please check out 2hostyl's post. All of the coasters are exceptionally good, but you may not like Hercules, mainly due to 'roughness'. The waterpark is okay, but if you go, be sure to get there in the morning, stay till around 2 to eat because the lines won't be as long for food. Eat a lot before you goto the park. Then when everyone is in the waterpark during the afternoon, you will already have hit it and the lines for coasters will be short.

If it's a hot day the park will be pertty dead until WWK closes around 6. Then the park gets crowed 10 minute waits turn into 40-50 minute waits. Hit all the rides you want in the day you'll want at least 1 night ride on Steel Force. Heres a tip to combat Jercules (I mean Hercules) lean forward to keep your back off the seat.

If you need discount tickets I saw some at Turkey Hill minute markets. I think they were for $5 off maybe $10.

As far as the park itself goes, this is our first (and probably only) year in Allentown so my experience on goes as far as this season. So far this year the crowds have been very low, but I'd expect that to change soon with school letting out and the summer vacation season kicking into high gear.

Dorney has some nice coasters.

Talon is a B&M invert that easily ranks with the best of them. Plus it can give small airtime in spots which is just great on inverted coasters. Definitely get a ride at night when it really performs.

Steel Force is another top notch ride. My experience shows that the front rides much better than the back. Lots of air on this one.

Dominator is a run of the mill S&S tower. They all get to be about the same after you do enough of them. If you like them, you'll like Dominator. I still maintain that for thrills you do the drop and for fun you do the launch.

Thunderhawk is a great old woodie (until you hit those trims on the bunny hops at the end) and usually doesn't have too big a line. Heck, I've gotten four solo runs this season during regular park hours.

Hercules takes every bad element possible on a wooden coaster and combines it into one ultraspectacular crapfest. (just my opinion, your mileage may vary).

The Wild Mouse is heavily braked but makes for a decent family ride - my 4 year old loves it.

Laser is a great Schwartzkopf design - tons of G's into the loops (gotta love the rounder loops - is rounder a word?)

Woodstock's Express, Little Laser and Dragon Coaster are all "kiddie" rides. Although you need to do one lap on the Dragon Coaster. I have fun just sitting in that back section of the park watching smart aleck kids and unamused adults hop on and then realise it packs a bit more of a punch that it looks like. The faces are priceless.

Dorney is a nice park that you don't hear much about. If Cedar Fair drops a few more bucks into the place they'll certainly earn a place on the map - they already deserve it.

lol...the freaking dragon coaster pulls a lot of G's in that helix! I got on that thing the other day and I almost crapped myself.. I really wasn't expecting that.

Perhaps they should take the wood from Hercules and use it to fix Mean Streak. ;)
