I had a post typed up last night about the complains that it could cause at guest service, but like half the things I type on CoasterBuzz, I deleted it before submitting it.

The short version is this. Some people will go to guest service because they were offended, or somehow felt that they were wronged somehow. What if someone perceived the re-rides to be motivated not by how loud the riders were, but how hot the chicks were, or the race of the riders compared to the ride operators? Some people are just looking for something to argue about with a business that they are visiting. Businesses need to treat all their patrons the same, or else risk being accused of favoritism of one form or another.

Edit - I'm not the kind of person to go ballistic with management of a business though. I am speaking from experience with my current job and all my previous jobs over the years.

I think it's simple. If there's no line, I love the idea. Without the entire unloading and loading process, the train would barely be in the station before its time to dispatch again. If there is a long line, then I see an issue.

In this case, as there didn't appear to be much of a line at all, go for it!

People will complain about anything.

Interestingly, this would also be my argument. You're not pleasing everyone at any rate - you're just not. People are assholes. To me, the upside on this easily outweighs the downside.

I'm totally on board with the idea that this is conditional.

At some point, moving the line becomes more important. But when things slow down or on slow days this is nothing short of brilliant - an easy, free way to boost morale (both employee and guest) and do something a little different.

Then again, I think the same thing about the Six Flags high fives that they encourage employees to do...and that gets funny looks and germophobia comments from the forums. Seems to me the easiest way to make things better is to keep it fun and silly. It's morale. It's vibe. It's corny. It's just fun.

I think it's a logical extention of the silly personalized spiels parks like Cedar Point do.

I hereby appoint Krause to be Tyler's official tutor.

I'd settle for a 50% improvement. That would spare us ~65 posts per day.

They were running three trains, the wait was less than 10 minutes, and around 1 in 10 trains got to go again. It astounds me that anyone would see a problem with this. This is simply good customer service from a Six Flags park.

Hi

I'd be wearing gloves for those high fives and be extra careful not to touch my eyes.

:-)

For me this is almost common practice on El Toro if your the last train of the night. It's a small sample size obviously, but I got an extra ride on El Toro both times I was sitting in the last full train of the night. The first time the whole train got an extra ride as everything was chanting and the second time it was a matter of filling the final train.

The only times I've gotten to reride have been when nobody was waiting for my row. The most fun instance of this was when I was on the third to last train of the night for S:RoS, poached into the second to last train (the ops said we could) and then somehow two people in the station didn't end up on the train. They sent us around a second time, swapped the two people in the front, and sent us around a third time.

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I was at Great Adventure today and they again were allowing the entire train to re-ride if the train was loud enough. The line was on the stairs (less than 10 minutes) and a little past the 30 minute sign after I exited the ride (which is around 15 minutes with the slower than normal dispatches today). Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to see if it continued throughout the day since the weather shut down all the coasters except The Dark Knight and Skull Mountain about an hour after I got to the park.
