Dorney 8/10 starlight

Associated parks:
None

My brother, aunt, and I arrived at Dorney just in time for the starlight admission. We got in and went right to Talon. The line for front was very long, so we decided to hit up the 3rd row. This ride is good, better than GB at Hershey, but no Raptor. It was a 2 train wait.

Hydra- I have heard different things about this coaster. The line was very short, we only had to wait one or two trains, because they were running two for everything except Thunderhawk. My brother and I wanted the front, but the line was longer, so we decided that the 2nd or 3rd row would be fine. This was my first ride on Hydra. This time around, it was just alright. Read more about it later.

Thunderhawk- the line was a little longer for this. The loading times seemed very slow, but we only waited 3 trains, with a one train operation. It was an ok ride, with tons of airtime, although it is kind of rough.

Steel Force- The line for this was short, although lines towards the front were a little longer. We decided to sit in the back and get pulled over the top of the hill. :) We buckled up, and pulled down the lap bars. I think that they need new lap bars. They were very loose, and didn't really feel safe, although they provided good airtime. The drop on this is very nice, into the tunnel and you get some nice time at the top. Good bunny hills. Some girl in front of us "accidentally" undid her seatbelt on the way up the lift, so the attendant had to come up and talk to her and her group.

After SF, we went over to Subway and got some hoagies.

Next, we went on the Train ride over by Talon. This was a nice little ride, gives some good views.

Wild Mouse- nothing special here. This had a longer line, due to slow loading and capacity. We waited about 15 minutes for this, just so I could add it to my coaster counter. ;) This was the only ride my aunt went on the whole time.

Talon again. We sat in the second row this time, and enjoyed the ride much much more. It was a little darker then, and it just seemed better. Still long wait for the front.

We decided to try Hydra again. This had a longer line now, but we decided to wait for the front anyway. We only had to wait about 10 minutes. Like Talon, we enjoyed the ride much more. It was a lot more fun in the front, it's a different experience.

Laser-this ride too had about a 10-15 minute wait. It loads fast, and I like how they deal with the line. This is a fun, fast ride, although it actually doesn't go that fast. Good time.

Steel Force again. Sat in the back again. My brother and I think that it is better at night. Did a cool picture and bought it.

Hydra. When we got back to Hydra, the line was very very short. We ended up going on 4 or 5 times more, and bought our picture the last time. We wanted to get on again, but the lady told us it was closed for the night, even though it was 5 of 10. :( We bought our pictures, chatted with the photo booth guy about Cedar Point and KK. He said that he went on KK, but wasn't going to bother going on TTD, because KK and TTD were about the same. After this we left.

Overall, we had a great time. Our favorite coasters of the night ended up being Hydra and Talon. *** Edited 8/12/2005 1:33:56 AM UTC by coasterniece*** *** Edited 8/12/2005 1:36:17 AM UTC by coasterniece***

CP was amazing, going back next June to ride Maverick

I'm heading out that way next week for the first time. I'm Definatly going to Knoebel's and Hershey; thought about hitting Dorney after 5 like you did, but I still don't know. It sounds like the crowds aren't too bad on a week night. How was the atmosphere? Was the park itself asthetically appealing to you?

My band "The Cedar Kings". "Ordinary Day" a trip report in song.

It's not a huge park, but it is worth going to. The atmosphere was good. The park appealed to me, because all that we really do when we go to parks is do the roller coasters, and they have a nice collection.
