Dorney 6/9 (Coaster Madness)

I arrived at Dorney about 8 in the morning for registration for Coaster Madness 2000. I showed my Season pass and ACE card and was set to go. I also bought two Skyscraper tickets for half price too.
Our first ERT was on the Wild Mouse and Hercules from 8:30 until opening at 10. I bypassed the mouse and went for Hercules. I was amazed that they were running it without the trim at the top of the main drop. I didn't ride it without the trim since about 93. It was rough as usual but not any worse in my opinion. It still slowly climbed the second hill. The turnaroud past the station was a bit faster than usual but nothing spetacular. After several stayon rides I had enough of Hercules and Hit the Mouse for a few laps. They were using many of the trim along the way some pratically stopped you. It's an ok mouse I prefer the one at Hershey.
As the rest of the park started to open I made my way to Dominator (down) since this usually has a long line thruout the day. I got there with about two or three people in front of me. Everytime it drops I get the "Oh my god" feeling. It's a good drop ride but it doesn't compare to the Gyro Drop at PKI.
Next in my journeys I met up with the Thudnerhawk. I rode car 1 seat 3 as usual. I could only imangine what this would do if that trim wasn't there on the second hill. This always has SUPER EJECTOR air on the top of the third hill and a few side bashing turns. As Thawk heads to the station it hits a few bunny hops and hits the brakes and stops dead. I only wish the trim wasn't on the second bunny hop, I know it would have great air like the Phoenix at Knoebels.
I then made my way for my first ride of the day on Steel Force. They were running 2 trains and it was a 2 or three train wait. What can I say great as usual. I don't know why but it seems as if we were hanging over the first drop more than usual. It's still my #2 hyper only behind Apollo's Chariot.

The only waits were for front and back seats it still went fast.
It was a real great day at Dorney getting night ERT on Steel Force and Thunderhawk and the morning ERT on Hercules and Wild Mouse. Alltogether there may have been 200 people at Coaster Madness wich made the ERT great mostly stay on's.
The next day on the way home we made two pit stops. The first was Crystal Caves about 45 minutes from Dorney off of I 78. It's a half hour tour that takes you into a cave full of stalagites and stalagmites and other cool features. Also in the 90 degree tempratures it was nice to go into the 52 degree cave.
After the cave we drove along I 78 a bit further and went to Roadside America. Roadside America is a minature village filled in a basketball court sized room filled with a city, coal mines, churches and many trains. Every half hour or so the turn the lights down slowly and it becomes night over the layout even filled with stars.
If you are going to hit Dorney and Hershey on a trip these are two cool thing you can check out between parks. It was $4 for me to get into Roadside America and $8 for the guided Crystal Cave tour. It was a very cool trip.
