GOOD
-It's actually much harder than I thought it was going to be. I had trouble passing even some of the "chimp" level songs (it goes monkey, chimp, gorilla). Even the songs I passed, I was getting mostly "OKs"... (DDR equivalent to "great" or "good").
-The unlock system. Although all the songs are there from the start, you must unlock all the "gorilla" difficulties for them, as well as mini-games and other bonus stuff. You do that by earning coins during each song... if you can do drum rolls really fast, you can earn more. Then you go to a "store" to "buy" whatever unlocks you want or can afford. Very cool.
-The music. It's a very nice mix of songs, most of which will be familiar to everyone. There's a couple of classical songs, swing music, oldies, rock, pop and remakes of old Nintendo themes.
NOT SO GOOD
-Only 30 songs... it's OK for now, but I feel I'll get bored before too long.
-No specific "game" to play.. you just select a song, play it, and then push "retry" or "quit" and that's your game. I like playing sets a la DDR better.
-The bongos... you will not be able to play these like real bongos. The skins are soft and rubbery, not tight like a real instrument, and they don't really make a bongo sound when you hit them (except through the TV speakers). I wish they felt more realistic. You can actually feel the button underneath the rubber that you can just press if you want.
Overall, though, awesome game - worth the $50 if you like rhythm games.
Here's a tip: For me, instead of clapping, it's much easier to slap the side of the bongos. Doesn't hurt your hands as much, either.
