Dollywood's Future

Hey, just got back from Dollywood . Talked to a ride-op on the Tornado(which I rode 4 times), and he said that they were just trying to figure out where to put the new coaster. He said it was still technically a rumor though. But he seemed pretty confident.

I also went to DW today. They still have people from the 'survey' department getting e-mail addresses to do survey's online (like the ones SDC,and CC are doing) if you havent saw the SDC survey, it shows a great wooden coaster-so maybe it will show some concept art of the proposed woodie or the long-time rumored B&M inverted.
Gardener14, I 've Relized that also. They've got Three Huge Indoor Theaters, yet only the Pines is used to It's Full Potential.

I miss the "Big" Shows as well. Fire On the Mountain, Paradise Road, Jamboree '92, and the Two Randy Parton Shows, American Dreams and Dreamland Express. These days they seem to be Focusing on Local Bluegrass Groups that stay for a week and then leave. It puzzles me why they cancelled Paradise Road after only Three Seasons, only to Be Replaced by that Horrible "Backstage Pass" show. Fire on the Mountain ran for Six Years before it got Replaced, yet Paradise Road only ran Three.

I also Don't like that "Kidzfest" Idea they've came up with for this Summer. Not that I have anything against it, I just don't like that it will be taking over the Park for Nearly 2 Months. I Believe I could stand Brightly Colored Banners and Kids Songs for Three Weeks, but I'm sure it will get old by Mid-August. (And, the Park is already crowded Enough. The Last thing we need is The Same Effect that Festival of Nations had on April, Except in the Already Over-Crowded July.)

Why, oh Why did they have to replace Thunder Road ??????????
Dukeis#1...Well said, again.

I miss Thunder Road!!!! :(

CBCon Quote "We didn't even get wet"......30 seconds later you hear plop, then splash!!!!

I did not enjoy Dollywood, but then again I am not the target audience. Dollywood is for families and older folks who want to spend a relaxing day together. I'm quite surprised that TT even got built.

Anyway, with a zillion bungee jumping towers, a skyscraper, arcades, mini-golf, go-carts and DDR everywhere, I'm never gonna be wanting more in Pigeon Forge...

Ouch

Do you bleed Blue?

Does Dollywood have the money for another coaster? You'd think with a higher attendance than Carowinds that it would have plenty of new rides by now. Money seems like the biggest issue though, because they aren't really part of any major amusement park chain.

Tales for the L33t

They have Plenty of Money. Dolly Parton is one of the Wealthiest Solo Music Artists in the World. (I've Heard she is one of the Richest of all Time, Up there with Cher, Micheal Jackson, and Elvis)

The Herchends also Have alott More Money than they Appear to have. How Many Companies (Not Evan Six Flags) Can suddenly decide to build a $$$,$$$,$$$ Theme Park with only a Year in Advance Notice?

They reason they don't add rides is Because they choose not to. They prefer to focus on Crafts and Shows. Dolly has said before that she prefers not to Focus on the Amusement Park Aspects of the Park.

Besides, How Many Parks can film a High Speed Car Chase on a Public Road that will only show in one Turbo Theater?

HFE definately has plenty of money. That is not the issue at al as Dukies said. Actually you put it just the way anyone else could put it.

I went to Dollywood this week, and the Mountain Slidewinder is now closed "indefinitely." I don't remember if they posted a reason or not. That's a shame because it's a great ride; I hope that they're able to bring it back.

In other Pigeon Forge news, does anyone know what's happening to Ogle's Water Park? It looks like it's being dismantled for a development. I imagine Dolly's Splash Country cut into its attendance in a major way.

Did you know the reason why Mountain Slidewinder is closed "indefinitely" is because of the fire that damaged the ride. The ride will be back up in the near future.

The Roller Coaster Adventures newsletter I got last weekend says it's rumored DW is looking at B&M due to the success of Wildfire. Whatever that's worth...

What's Dollywood's email address? Their email page has been saying" Due to technical difficulties, this page is currently unavailable." for awhile.
