Dollywood's 10 new rides revealed

What they need to do is figure out a way to get rid of that wiring so that they can use wire rope and not have to worry about the wiring.

Idea- Microwave power, ala SimCity 2000.

Just be careful you don't end up in the beam if it gets misdirected...

Whats a farmer parade? Is this an actual parade or a ride? Im confused......
Good question, Dorney.
Maybe it's a hayride thing and farmers throw ears of corn at passerby's...
i have no clue...

The L&T coaster has me interested... anyone know anything about the model? Are we talking the same one that used to live at Dreamland in the UK?

Anyone else think its odd to have a Wave Swinger *and* an Aviator?

mOOSH [asterisk use is Gator-approved]

SFEG does. Well they don't have a waveswinger, but a Vekoma swinging carousel, and it's the only one left in the world if I recall correctly.

Dave Dragon, go Dave Dragon, and the Star Force Five!

Mamoosh..PKD has a Wave Swinger and an Aviator if I'm not mistaken...I guess as long as they are far enough apart in the park, I guess the esperience is different enough that the two can coexist...

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Eww, I wish we had the old rides back. The Disk-O can stay, but all the other rides excite me much less than a Tilt-A-Whirl, Scrambler, and Log Flume.

And a kiddie coaster just makes 2 family coasters in a four coaster park.

Although, this is good news for all the families out there, and a great move by the park.

Chattanooga needs a ITG2 Machine!
Kind of a let down IMO.
I have to admit I'm kind of disappointed with the new rides too. The log flume will be sorely missed by all (still don't know why they didn't try to sell it), and it was pretty neat to have a Tilt-a-Whirl in a major park.

I don't mind the kiddie coaster. I think the park may have something bigger in mind for the near future, judging from that survey.

Celebration City still has a tilt-a-whirl, or do you not consider it a "major" park? ;)

I think the ride line-up will work out nicely. When I visted the park I thought it was weird to have two log flumes anyway. It will be missed, but probably not missed too much.

Yes, but PKD has an Aviator, Wave Swinger and Flying Scooter, which seems really odd to me.

According to Mark at Zamperla : "Farmer Parade is a simple, small kiddie flat ride about 20' in diameter with farm themed cars on it that go around in a circle."

I think ColumbusCoaster is right--it sounds like a variation of Turtle Parade.

I was hoping for at least a Giant Drop, especially since people (read: Screamscape) were guessing a Gyro Drop.

What is a B-Jet?

My bet for the most popular car would be the manure spreader.

Originally I assumed that the tea cups would be a large family ride, but I looked up the tea cups on Technical Park's website, and the only one I saw is a kiddie version. Does anyone know exactly what this tea cup ride model will be? It seems like the Aviator, Wave Swinger, and Disko may be the only non-kiddie rides. I was hoping for a "big" tea cup ride like at BGW, MK, SFNE, or La Ronde. What does anyone else think this ride might be? *** Edited 11/25/2004 10:35:20 PM UTC by gardener14***
I thought I would post the names of all the new rides:

1) Lemon Twist (Teacups)
2) Shooting Star (Mini Drop Tower)
3) Sky Rider (Aviator)
4) Piggy Parade (Farmer's Parade)
5) The Waltzing Swinger (Wave Swinger) 6) Busy Bees (Kiddie Ride)
7) VeggieTales Kids Coaster
8) Lucky Ducky (Kiddie Ride)
9) The Amazing Flying Elephants (Flying Elephants)
10) Dizzy Disk (Disko)

I don't really like any of the names. They seem to generic and don't fit the theme of the park all that good. The Elephants really stick out...

Anyway, some other new things around the park:

-Moscow Circus (Festival of Nations)

-Spongebob Squarepants Turbo Action Ride- NEW for Kidsfest. (Will replace the Smoky Mountain Adventure Tours film during June & July)

-Clifford The Big Red Dog (Kidsfest)

-"Jest" in Time (Kidsfest)

-VeggieTales Minnesota Cuke & the Search for Sampson's Hairbrush (Kidsfest)

-Dolly's Imagination Playhouse feauting the Penguin Players (Kidsfest)

-Mad Science Movie Magic featuring the Movies of MGM (Kidsfest)

Daily Country, Bluegrass, Americana, and Southern Gospel concerts during THE NEW National Music & Harvest Celebration

-International Sounds of Christmas (Smoky Mountain. Christmas)

Dolly's Splash Country:
-Bear Mountain Fire Tower (Water play area)

Dollywood also opens one week earlier in 2005 on March 26th.

I also think it's great to see a park adding medium sized flat rides, like the Waveswinger. It's so rare to see that these days, we normally only see coasters and extreme new flats.
