Dollywood Trip

I am planning a trip to Dollywood for April 8th and I was wondering if the park is generally crowded at this time in the year. I was also wondering if the new topple tower would be opened by then. Thanks.

Even when the park IS crowded, the lines for rides tend to be short, as a large portion of the park goers are older people who are there for everything else, and not so much the rides.

April 7-9 will be extremely busy, however, as it's the grand opening weekend when Dolly herself shows up for a parade (both in town Friday night and in the park over the weekend).

I thought that opening weekend was April 1st and 2nd. Also, will the Topple Tower be open?

While April 1-2 is the opening weekend, April 7 is the Dollywood grand opening (and the media event) and the 21st Annual "Dolly's Music on Parade" through Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.

Timberrrr Tower should be ready to fall when the park opens.

Additionally, on Monday, March 20, 2006, bridge demolition began on the SR 35 bridge over the Pigeon River overflow, at the Intersection of SR 35 (US 411/ 441) and SR 66 in downtown Sevierville. Motorists should be alert for lane closures, reduced lane widths, lane shifts and new conditions at and approaching this intersection from all directions. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution when traveling through this area.

Pigeon Forge seems to be always crowded. The traffic can get VERY congested. Gatlingburg is the same.

Dollywood's coasters hardly ever have lines that go over a half hour, even when the park is packed. I think the longest I waited for Thunderhead was about a half hour tops, and that was the week it opened.
