So aside from meeting a mysterious old woman selling potions and tickets on a trolley, it would seem that hopes are dim of finding a discount. Oh well. We'll be in the area for 4 nights in a cabin in the woods (perhaps the old woman will be walking around the Smokies?), so I think the "arrive late one night get in the the next day free" deal is about as good as it gets.
The best I could find was $7.60 off through AAA, but they have to be mailed to you. Dollywood's own website is $6.60 off, and you can print them at home. (Assuming AAA's listed gate price of $60.60 is accurate, since dollywood.com doesn't seem to show it.)
The "late + next day" deal starts at 3 p.m., which gives you an extra 4 hours of use (or 5 on Saturday), so that's cool. What I'm not clear about is if you have to buy the ticket after 3 p.m. in person, or if you can buy ahead and use it twice.
I'm pretty sure you don't have to buy them in person. It has to do with when you first go through the front gate, because a ticket you buy online is just like a ticket you buy at the park.
