Dollywood in July

It's been awhile since I've been on here, but anyways. Me and some of my friends are planning to go to Dollywood on the 11th of July, Tuesday. With them having new rides and the Kidsfest going on at the time, does anyone know if it will be a little crowded? I've never been and I would like to ride..... basicly everything. lol
If you're going to ride rides, then the wait times should be pretty short. Even when the parking lot is full and they're using the overflow lots (F and higher), it can be crowded in the park but the wait times for rides are short. I'm not familiar with kid fest, so maybe its different, but I kinda doubt it. I think the park is busiest during Festival of Nations and the ride wait times were very short. And it helps that you're going on a Tuesday. Remember too that Dollywood opens super-early (and closes early too), so you can take advantage of that aspect.

I went about 2 years ago about the same day and same time when ThunderHead was new. The waits for TH were about 20-25 minutes and most of the other rides had only about a 10 minute wait including the giant log flume. Another fair wait about 20 minutes was the Smoky Mountain Wilderness Adventure Tour . The longest wait would be the Mountain Slidewinder due to its low capacity. Its been a few years since I've last been there but they have since built new High Capacity Rides including the new Timber Tower and I hope that you would have short wait times on your visit.

Oh ok, great this sounds like it will be good. I'm kinda wondering about Mountain Slidewinder's wait time. I saw it on Travel Channel I think and it looks really fun and I would love to ride it. So hopefully I won't be disappointed with the wait time.
Slidewinder is pretty low-capacity, but well worth the wait - and the climb up the mountain, so be prepared for it.
Kidsfest is actually the busiest time of the year. This year there is a new Big Cats and Magic show along with some other kids shows like Clifford etc. Wait times are often only about 15-20 minutes maximum even on Thunderhead. Timber Tower wait times are very short because the ride has a 40 person per ride capacity.

The park is now becoming quite busy all year (about 2.4 million last season) but the best time to ride is in October when the weather is great and the older folks are on the park for the Southern Gospel event. During the week in November and December is quite good as well if you like very short ride lines.

FYI - the park is open 9-8 peak season summer and normally 10-7 in the fall.

I hope this helps a little. The slidewinder is awesome if you don't mind the climb.

I'm going soon and when I get back I'll post a TR. Last time I went was the year Tennessee Tornado opened, and it's line was only about 5min. *** Edited 5/4/2006 2:02:29 AM UTC by DantheCoasterman***
I've already been twice and it was packed, they where so packed they where useing Dolly's Splash Country's Parking Lot & a overflow parking lot for both parks,( both parks are side by side) But the good news was the wait for thead was 20 min or less and timber tower was a very short queve time too. I'll be going very often, becouse i live 25 mins. away from the park. *** Edited 5/4/2006 2:21:34 AM UTC by CoasterCraze***
I was there on the first week of June in 2004 on a Wednesday. The parking lot is long and narrow so it always looks full. I was suprized at the long line on Thunderhead. I'd say 20 to 30 minutes. The Tornado was only about 10. A good deal of the Dollywood cutomers were older and didn't ride the rides. Dolly made a very quick appearance in the kinfolk show so I got to see her briefly. It it a beautifull park.

Thunderhead is one of my favorites just behind Cornball, Raven, Legend, Hoosier Hurricane, Lost Coaster, Tig'rr, Galaxi, and the Holidog coaster.
