Dollywood gets approval for Mystery Mine Ride

Posted | Contributed by Coaster Lover

The Pigeon Forge Planning Commission approved plans for a mysterious new ride at Dollywood on Tuesday. Commission members voted unanimously to approve the site plan for the Mystery Mine Ride, which architect Bruce Rutherford described as the largest expansion that Dollywood has undertaken. The Mystery Mine features a track that climbs 121 feet and sends passengers plunging over a simulated broken trestle.

There's your wooden wild mouse, kids! ;)
Another B&M dive machine perhaps?

No, Sparky. LOL AV Matt :)
If it went up 121, how is it going to have a simulated plunge over broken....trestle. OR is it going to be Expidition Everist, and go backwards or something.

Same way Big Bad Wolf has such a large drop near the end of the ride: terrain.
Sound exciting. I thought they might do something like Powder Keg, but this seems like a great choice for DW.
Sounds good! It'll more than likely be built up there next to the Tennessee Tornado, but I don’t see why they are already building a new area to dollywood. Must be part of that big "Expansion" that they have been talking about for years now that will eventually make the park three times as big, and loop the park around connecting Thunderhead Gap/Timber Canyon, what ever they're calling that place now, and the Tennessee Tornado.

I see your B&M Dive machine, and raise you a Gertslauer Euro-Fighter.

It seems to make the most sense to me.

What is a Gertslauer Euro-Fighter? Is it kind of like a Wild Mouse Ride???

Theres a link to a diagram of it. The ride will be in the area of Timber Tower and will feature four people per car.

Chuck, still not sure of the layout although there is a diagram.

My money is on it being an Euro-Fighter. Cool.
I went to Dollywood last week and an worker there told me they were going to build another rollercoaster.*** This post was edited by the voyager 7/2/2006 5:54:22 PM ***
