Well, seems all the rumors of a mine themed coaster coming to Dollywood were true. To sum up the article in one sentence: the ride will be 121' tall, is being described as the largest expansion that Dollywood has undertaken, will be designed to make it look like you are going down into an old mine shaft, ground breaking will begin in a month with a full year of construction, and the official announcement will be in July.
Apparently they have also approved two new parades, though I'm sure you all are much more interested in the coaster... *** Edited 3/30/2006 6:41:21 PM UTC by Jeff***
If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.
On a side note, Timber Tower will not be opening until sometime next week - probably for the 'official opening'. So, if you were planning on going to SeasonPass Holders day on the 30th and 31st, or for opening weekend you will be dissapointed if you go just to ride TT.
Six Flags over Georgia, Alabama Adventure (aka Vision Land), Lake Winnie (Visits to all of these were rained out during our Summer 2004 trip), and a return to Dollywood.
Of course, when we returned to the area to hit the other three parks, Dollywood would be a return trip anyway... regardless of a new coaster or not.
This just answers the "when" part of the return.
By the way SLFAKE, LW is a fun park. They're getting a new 140 foot drop tower this year (which oddly no one has mentioned on here yet). LW is a very fun little stopping point in between DW and SFOG.
Yes, expect to see plenty of expansion at Dollywood in the coming years - landwise and coasterwize.

Sounds like the rumored Eurofighter with a first drop into a "mine shaft." Anyone ridden a Eurofighter? Looks interesting.
I've ridden Vild Svinet, at Bon Bon Land, and it was a blast. The cars are actually comfortable, and that's saying alot about Gerstlauer. Maybe they should just stick with steelies, and leave the wood coaster to those who know what their doing.
I mean scense that they already removed the lucky seven mine. the tunnel is still there but the mine store is gone, there is a sign on the door way that says.
Mine Closed for renovations

Woah, I had no idea. Now I have a reason to go to the park this year.
And man, I have a feeling that this new ride at Dollywood will be very, very sweet. Back when they had that little survey this was one of my top two choices, and those rides sounded AWESOME.

I Believe the coaster will be at the old lucky 7 mine area of the park, well atleast it would be the ideal place for it.I mean scense that they already removed the lucky seven mine. the tunnel is still there but the mine store is gone, there is a sign on the door way that says.
The ride will be located on up the valley behind Timber Tower.
There's not enough room in the area around the Lucky 7 Mine for such an attraction. The hillside would have to be graded off.
