It just seems to me that most peoples favorite park is the closest park in the state they live in.

It would seem that your favorite park is wherever it is.  Kind of a silly question if you ask me.  If your favorite park had to be in the state you live in, then you would have to change if you moved.

I think your favourite park is more *likely* to be near you simply because a lot of posters are kids who don't have the money or transportation available to travel around to various parks very far away from home, particularly if their parents aren't into coasters in the least.

For any who're interested I live in MI and my favourite park is Knoebel's, narrowly edging out HW based on their better food and older styling :-)

My favorite park isn't even in this country, so I don't know what to say about that.  Nagashima Spaland is a destination, absolutely.   Just ask Peabody or cmiesen.  I do love Silverwood, though.  It is 5 hours away and in Idaho, but it is close enough to qualify as a state or regional park.  I loathe Wild Waves (now Six Flags Northwest), although nothing has been built of any significance yet.  We shall see.

My favorite park (SFMM) is on the opposite side of the country from where I live (BGT/IOA area). I know there are tons of people who agree that Magic Mountain is a great trip.

I live in Ohio and my three favorite parks(maybe even more) aren't even in the state. For coastering, my favorite park is SFGAm, but as an overall experience I would go with BGW, DL, or IOA as my three favorites. No particular order. I just can't get enough of well-themed parks and thrill rides to go along with it. Also, they way they're run seems to be top notch as well.

Wherever I would put CP and PKI on the list would be fairly close to each other, because there aren't enough negatives about either to really set them apart and they each stand high on their own. SFWoA on the other hand. Well, I'll give them points for some nice rides and coasters, but they have a long way to go. But no, your home park or even a park near you doesn't have to be your favorite, but it can be. No doubt about that.

I haven't been to Knoebles, SFGAdv, SFOT, or SFMM yet, so I think I still have a lot of great parks to look forward to. Oh, and I can't forget Nagashima, Alton Towers, Blackpool, DL Paris, Port Adventura,...

SFA is a very interesting park. Strangely, I can ride half of their coasters without leaving Ohio. Too bad their signature coasters, SROS, Roar, and Wild One, have to be so far away.
