I am planning on going to the park this summer. I was just wondering if it gets very crowded. Is Shivering Timbers worth the 4 or so hour drive from Chicago?? Thanks for your help.
I live about an hour away from MA. Somedays it is busy exspessially the waterpark once it opens, but then the rides get slow. Shivering Timbers is a really good ride, Excellent Air time, favorite spot to sit is up front, Well i will be heading to north of chicago to goto sfgram, thats only about 3 hours away.

God, from Chitown, I left on a Saturday, went Sunday, and drove home that night (true story), and was back in class on Monday! And Shivering Timbers is worth the drive (which is actually about 3 1/2 hours, with the 70mph speed limit in Michigan!)

The park gets fairly busy, but the line for ST usually runs no more than 15 minutes. You can get all the rides you want on most summer days. And I do believe it's worth the trip.
MA is wierd in the fact that most of the GP goes for the waterpark. The waterpark is closed for the first and last hour of the operating day, so the lines for the rides get longer during those times. On the other hand, the rest of the day is like the 'creamy middle' with 15 minute to walk-ons all day, even weekends.
I drove 5½ hours each way to MA from Fort Wayne In. Worth EVERY minute spent behind the wheel, IMO. (ST my personal #1 coaster) ST was a walk-on all afternoon, this was in July!!!

I went on a Sunday last year and it was a walk on to two train wait all day. Shivering Timbers is VERY worth it. My favorite wooden coaster, better than the Beast! Every seat is good, back my fav.
