Does Conneaut have any room to expand?

Can Conneaut Lake Park expand their park? Maybe not coasterwise, but with a few thrillrides? I noticed an area behind the Blue Streak's loading station called Jungle Zoo or something and it looked boarded up; anyone know what is up with that? If they own it, couldn't they add something back there? I'll post a TR soon, just wanted to ask these questions. Thanks!

They have a LOT of room to expand... e.g. the parking lots that never get used....

If you went on the train ride you would have seen that most of the area behind the Blue Streak is (correct me if I'm wrong) wetland. There was a LOT more rides in the past that were taken out, so YES they have bunches of room to expand...

I'm not sure if it was the case when you went, but when I was there it seemed like everyone was a bit MORE rude than those at SFWoA.... just my opinion, don't kill me. lol.

You're a smart Conneaut person as it seems :)

1. What is the story with that Jungle Zoo thing behind the Blue Streak?

2. I know I was amazed when I saw all the roads that go right through the park! Does Conneaut own any of those houses next to it?

3. Will they reopen next year? I heard that they wanted to get at least 50,000 visitors this year and my wristband said 36,something. Could that be, um, bad?

I know I will visit next year, the Blue Streak is well worth it!

Thanks!

I really don't think it's a question of room, it's more a question of money.  Unfortunately, CLP has had some bad mangement in the past that pretty much ran the park into the ground.  They do have new management in place and he is hoping to turn the park around.  One thing he wants to try is sell stock in the park to Pennsylvania residents.  Last year they sold $100 bonds to raise money so they could open the park and luckily an Erie business man purchased 3 attractions for the park in addition to quite a few of those bonds.  Also a group of 8 people rode the Blue Streak for 12 hours straight this year to raise money for maintenance of the coaster.  They raised $3,500.

Christ how do you kids do it
From what I heard on GoErie.com, Conneaut is owned and operated by the area (City or Township) of Conneaut? Something that confused me was seeing a billboard for Waldameer about 5 miles away from Conneaut.

Too bad they wont release stock to people outside of PA because I would love to own stock in CLP even if they were unsuccessful in turning the park around.  I wish them the best of luck and I hope that they are around for a long time to come.

Yes, I want my Deja Vu and eat it too!
Look in the news section for an article about CLP, I think within the past month or two. There's a reason why they're not selling stock to residents outside of PA, and I think it has something to do with federal taxing or something on the federal scale (as opposed to keeping it just within the state). It's all in the article.

Wristbands aren't really an accurate reading of how many visitors they have. Admission is free, so just walking in and going on the beach doesn't cost you, and on top of that they sell ride tickets, so I'm not quite sure how they keep track on how many people walk into the park on any given day (I don't ever recall there being a turnstile ANYWHERE in that place...).

Visit Conneaut Lake Park next year and help keep this park alive!
