Does anyone remember this Knott's Berry Farm ride?

It was called XK1 or something like that. It was rocket ships that went in the air and they would rotate upside down. I asked a friend of mine and he said that there never was a ride like that at Knott's. But if I remember correctly it was. It was in the area where they have the Sea Dragon. Does anyone know what I'm talking about. If so what happened to that ride?
The XK-1 "Intamin Solo-Flyer" was removed in late 1997/early 1998 for Supreme Scream. The park's 325 FT "Turbo Drop" tower currently sits in XK-1's past location. XK-1 had a lot of mechanical problems and not too many people liked the ride.
Do you know why so many people didn't like the ride?
I loved that ride! It was so much fun to see how long it would let you stay upside down...I think it was about 5 seconds. It was one of the best flat rides ever. Of course, Supreme Scream is a better ride, but they could have put it elsewhere/moved  Xk-1. I really miss it...Thanks for bringing it up, now I have to go cry :(
If you miss XK-1 so much, go to Paramount's Great America.  They have an identical ride there called Skyhawk.  I think it's still in operation.

They took out the Skyhawk (Skychicken) a few years back as well. The ride was ok, but experienced a lot of mechanical problems. It also was pretty bad on the capacity side of things.

Yeeee Haaawwww!
Now that I think about it didn't somebody fall of XK1 and died? Correct me if I'm wrong.

XK1 is the same as Skyhawk which is the same as PKI's Flight Commander.  Flight Commander was the one which someone fell out, allegedly due to rider drunkeness.  PGA still had one last spring.

This might be one for you Shivering Tim:

I have seen 3 of these rides recently, one at PGA and 2 in Japan, and they struck me as being VERY short.  Was Flight Commander taller?  I don't remember it being as short as the one at PGA and others.

Just curious...thanks!

On my 8th grade trip in 1997 some friends and I rode it. It was ok. The hangtime when you went upside down was a little scary since all you saw was concrete. Good thing that there was lots of padding. The restraints consisted of both an OTSR and lapbar.
I loved XK-1. I always rode it when I went to Knott's. It was basically the XTREME version of Dumbo at Disneyland. It was removed for Supreme Scream and was a mechanical nightmare.

This sucks.  I remember the Suop Box Derby Racers, but not this ride.  I was just thinking last week what was there before SS, but I couldn't remember.  If anyone has any pics of it please tell me.
Is that like the Looping Starship at SFGAdv? If it is, I love those ride so much. I could hang upside down all day if I could. :)

From what I have heard it's a ride mechanic's worst nightmare. Any ride that spends more time down than operating will not be there long, I guarentee it.
XK-1 was tight. They shouldv'e just moved it to a different part of the park.
Wasn't there a ride like that at PKI near the Racer and Vortex?  Right by the dome theater.

front car on mf. hope you have the chance to do it.
Yes, Flight Commander (mentioned above). It sat on one of the original foundations for the Intamin Giant Double Wheel loading area.

Didn't PKD have a ride like this too?

Yes, PKD did have one. I think it was near the bouncy thing they have near Rebel Yell
Does anyone know where I can find pics of the ride?
