Yes, it's closed for numerous reasons. It's not even on the park map anymore. I am sure you will hear plenty of rumors and thories why it's closed coming up shortly.
It's been closed for quite a while. Where ya been? :)

In my opinion, it's a waste of money on their part. After all, they are still paying insurance, taxes, etc on a ride not being used. They said it was too rough.

You should have known by now it has been closed...it is old news (and very sad news).
What's weird is you posted this today...go back to the Coasterbuzz home page and see today's roller coaster rollback section!

Would DF work with Lapbars? Why Not?

Millennium Force: Go Full Force...
Drachen Fire closed in 1998 due to roughness as mentioned in the coaster rollback. Here in Williamsburg, the strong rumor is that the coaster will reopen next year with new trains after the eagles that have nested on top of the wraparound corkscrew have left.
Infact today is the day back in 1998 when Drachen Fire mysteriously closed.

welcome one and all, y'all come have a ball!
Things a bear-y fine, ridin' on the old knott's bear-y line!
Everybody says the nest is in a different spot. A couple of weeks ago, I took some pictures of DF and can't see a nest on the corkscrew, but it looks like one on the loop you can see from everywhere almost.
As for it reopening, ?????. I wanted to ride DF the second I saw it in a park brochure way back ago, and found out of its' closure a couple years ago. It may reopen, but it seems that type of ride, regardless of roughness, isn't sold well to the GP, IMO. The loopers at most parks we've been to in the past couple of years have had no lines, the people like thier feet to hang for the time being. It's like wood, wood gets real big ever so often, it takes a Dinn or CCI, maybe for loopers a retro thing will happen, a company like maybe Premier could do some things(FOF, incredible). As far as Arrow using lapbars, that would be nice, but would they?
Also, there was this girl we were talking to at PKD, who hadn't realized DF was closed. She called the ride a "whipper" and says her aunt has been going to physical rehab and has had therapy(not mental) paid for by Busch because of that ride. Don't know the truth to it. Who knows, maybe the ride was a loaded gun, capable of giving that much extra of a ride so often that it snapped some necks off to the side, everyone else I meet in person claims it wasn't rough at all. Anyways, DF threads are old, and happen for one reason, because they(BGW, ABParks) haven't told us what's up yet!
