Do you live in a city like me with no park?

Do you live in a city like me with no park?
Yes, my city, indeed my STATE has no parks or coasters :( Though we *do* have a merry-go-round...

I do. That is not all that uncommon.  I would venture to say that a majority of us on here live in a city / town with no park.  A better question would be... "who lives in an area that is not with in reasonable driving distance for a day trip to a park?"  Ask the question the second way and I would say "no... 20 minutes to Williamsgrove, 40 minutes to Hershey and Dutch wonderland, 2hrs to Dorney, Knoebels, and SFA.

The closest coasters to me are 3 CCIs, 2 great ones, 89 miles away. Why does WI Dells have to be so far?

True Jeff, but they are "supposedly" reviving a bill in the Senate to either give us representation or absolve us of Federal taxes. Right now, I'd prefer the former over the latter.

Well, I have a park within 15 minutes of my home so I guess I don't fit the bill... but truthfully having a park nearby is not necessarily a positive.

I reside in Louisville, KY and let me tell you if given the choice of having or not having SFKK nearby I would find the gamble six one way half a dozen the other.

And to think I moved from Cincinnati.... Oh well, HW is an 1:15 away and PKI is exactly 1:30 away.  Not too bad I guess ;-)

technically I dont live in a city with a park.  But, SFGAm is like 15 minutes away.  It's in the same county.

While the Baltimore area has no parks, Hershey, Knobels, Williams Grove, Dutch Wonderland,  SFGAdv, SFA, PKD, and some beach rides are all within 3 hours; so it's hard to complain too much.  Of course my 13 year old who wants to be a ride op would like a closer park.  I guess she will have to settle for running the train at the mall once she turns 14.
Three hours away from the closest rollercoaster.... Holiday world.....

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW BAD IT IS....

IS THERE A BETTER PARK THAN HOLIDAY WORLD??

I THINK NOT!!!!!
-------ADAM (KY COASTER FREAK)

Let's see...

When I was in Paris this summer, I was 10 minutes from DLP and 30 minutes from Parc Asterix, SF Belgium was 2 hours and 15 minutes train ride ( bullet train to Brussels, then the local trains to the park ).

Here, in Montreal, I am a 35 minutes drive away from La Ronde and a 3 hours drive from Great Escape.

Anybody else see the irony here?

It depends on what you consider "within driving distance for a day trip" - to me 2 hours is too long for a day trip. If I have to get up and be on the road 2 hours before a park opens and then tack on another 2 hours after the park closes, then that's too long - I'd stay overnight. In fact that's what we did in Jacksonville - Orlando was 1 1/2 to 2 hours away and Wild Adventures was about the same distance. Oddly enough I went to amusement parks more often in 3 years in Florida than ever before in my life.

Now I live less than 5 miles from Dorney. Should be a good summer.

Until 1996, our closest roller coasters were Coaster at Vancounver's Playland, and Western Washington State Fair's Roller Coaster (which is only open 3 weeks a year during the fair).  After that, it was Great America and the Boardwalk in the Bay area.  Talk about long distance traveling!  Now we've got two great CCI's at Silverwood, just 42 miles from our home.  Guess we're just fortunate.  However, we're still a big vacation trip away from all the great stuff in the midwest and east, so for those of you in those areas, just realize how fortunate you are.

Well, my city (Seattle) has a park.  And it recently got purchased by SF.  It's only worthy as a water park, though.... so far.  I'm hoping CCI or CGI (or freakin' MCI for all I care) get a chance to build a coaster there this year.  I don't know, though.  No word for quite a while on any new development.
ittle less then two hours from CP.  Of course I live in the middle of cornfields and am a good ol' farm boy so thats close for me, heck I have to go 15 miles just to buy a gallon of milk.
-----------------
Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
Uh, 3 hrs. to MiA 2.5 hrs. to Cedar Point.  NORTHERN Detroit is pretty bad for me.
