Do you have to test a new ride a 1000 times?

I was just wondering because i read on www.americacoasters.com that Xcelerator has finished its testing a thousand times.

Yes. Most, if not all rides are mandated to do so.

i have been following Xcelerator very closely, and to me it sounds like it is Intamin's standard to test their rides 1000 times, not the state. i mean, shouldn't carny rides be tested before opening.
I don't think all coasters need to be tested 1000 times, I mean look at LoCoSuMo im almost positive that it didn't get 1000 test runs in before opening. I think it is just something Intamin does.

It really depends on what the states inspectors require.

In Ohio, It really dosn't matter if it's tested once or a thousand times, If the Dept of Agriculture deems the ride safe then it is given a permit to operate.
