Do you form emotional attactments to coasters?

While it isnt a coaster, I love Roaring Rapids.  But of coasters..I like...V2.

And Spacecase8310, I think I know why for V2, but I might be wrong.

LOL, scanz.  First night ride on S:RoS (at SFA) was front-row, and when I got off, weak-kneed, screamed out, and emotionally exhausted, I turned to Jill and actually said: "If you weren't around, I'd marry this coaster".  She's a sensible woman, and realizes that nothing will ever come of this torrid love affair, so I guess she feels pretty safe...

Kara, your "baby" is MINE sometime in '02...that is the MOST beautiful coaster on this (or any other) planet!!!

I had an attachment to the Steel Phantom. Even though everyone hated it because it was rough, I loved it. It was here, and now it's gone. But I am though starting to get an attachment to Phantom's Revenge.

I'm attached to SoB. She I mean He's my baby. Well really not, but still you know what I mean. I never actaully saw it in construction but I'd look at pictures for hours everyday on Ultimate Roller Coaster and Sean F's web site. I knew every thing about that ride and still do. I can get over how amazing it is.

It's his turn to feast, when you ride the Son of Beast.
Who doesn't? We are all moved (pun intended) by these works of art & engineering. They are a part of us, just as we are them.

Kara, you're there even if something doesn't happen to it! OK so I'd build my house inside Legend's structure but there isn't enough room for a drum set!

I don't know what I'd do if any SFGAm coaster got dismantled, especially Raging Bull. It'd be like the death of a very good friend. (Yes, I know I sound pathetic)

Mine's pretty obvious, but I have to agree with Jeff, MF and WT also have special attachments to me just because of being their for their announcements, and seeing them grow and touching them and sitting on their tracks and supports and seeing how they evolve.

With my big attachment with Magnum, Magnum was already 4 years old when I first rode it, and then it was 7 years old when I started riding it heavy.  I could argue a bigger attchment to MF than Magnum if I really wanted to but Maggie is my baby and always will be.

I had a major emotional attachment to Sky Whirl (Intamin Triple wheel) @ SFGAm, hence my name ;). Every night I went in the '99 or '00 season, I'd ride Sky Whirl at about 9:30, then hit Raging Bull (assuming they were both open), then go home. It was a perfect ending to a great day and I loved being up there for 10 minutes seeing the park all lit up at night. Everybody always makes fun of my Sky Whirl obsession, and a few V2 crew members at work have given me the "wonderful" title of "Sky Whirl Eddie" but oh well...

I guess I'm attached to alomst all of the rides at SFGAm, because I grew up with many of them. I'm especially attached to the rides I was certified for last season which were Batman, American Eagle, Roaring Rapids (Intamin River Rapids Ride), Whirligig (Zierer Wave Swinger), and East River Crawler (Schwarzkopf Monster III)

I love the King Cobra and every time there is talk about it being replaced I get a sick feeling in my stomach.
I don't know,  There are a couple of steelies that I wouldn't want to loose but just about every wood coaster I have ever ridden has grown on me somehow and I am devistated when one is not saved or closes.

For me it is Wildfire at Silver Dollar City. It's a great ride, but to a larger degree it is the first coaster that me and my finace rode together. So to some strange, romantic,  yet very weird way, I will always  have a special place in my heart for it.

Call me harsh, but it's just wood or metal and nothing more. It's hard to get emotionally attached to something inanimate.
I still remember I was in 2nd grade when the Phoenix was being built. I cut out all the news paper articles our local paper printed about the reconstruction. My first ride was the day after the opening day (still had lap bars and the tunnel wasn't complete). I actually remember (almost) flying out of the seat. Since 1985 I think the Phoneix is the only coaster I'd be devistated losing. It's my first woodie and still my favorite. (I still have those news paper articles)
Long live the Skywhirl:  I too had an attachment to Skywhirl, and was sad to see it go. It was unique, fun to ride and a blast to work!

I know it's not a coaster, but I was very attached to the Musik Express at Geauga Lake ever since it premiered 25 years ago in 1977 (replacing their original Himalaya). To a seven-year old, the ride was colorful, fast, and very loud.... and the ride looked absolutely stunning at night. Every time my family would go to the park, my brother and I would make a point to be at the Express around 9:30 and we'd ride non-stop until they kicked us off. The operators always seemed to have more fun later in the day, playing more diverse tunes, flipping the interior lights off, and giving longer ride cycles (well, at least I did those things when I operated the ride back in 1989!). It was just a fun experience. Unfortunately, when the park moved the ride to its present location in 1997, they also removed some of the lights and got rid of the Fun Bunch theme (which replaced the original "disco" characters in 1988). And perhaps the biggest tragedy of all, in 2000, the ride was completely stripped of any "flash" it once had.... resulting in a ride that is just a shell of its former self. Of the 11 visits I made to the park last year, I only rode the Express once. The fun just isn't there anymore.

If I want a real Musik Express ride, I guess I'll have to drive to Kennywood. While its a bit "bumpier" than SFWoA's, it at least still has the colorful characters, a full lighting package, and offers up a fast and furious ride... even with those weird black cloth straps attached to the safety bar. Although if I was at Kennywood, I'd probably be riding another ride until the park closed.... the incredible Bayern Kurve.

ProgRay (who remembers Cedar Point's Super Himalaya once having a cool light package, top lighting and scenery, a light up "Super Himalaya" sign, and an interior "tunnel" backdrop... but can't remember what it looked like....)

What year(s) did you work at the park?

I know exactly what you mean. The Express hasent been the same since... :(

For almost every park I go to, I have my "baby". At SFA, S:ROS is my baby. Kings Dominion 2, Grizzly and Anaconda. SFMM, Viper. PGA, Top Gun, Milli at CP.  Its not like I refer to this every time I'm at a park, but sometimes I will admire looking at my favorite coaster and say, "There's my baby". This is not some sick love interest, just very similar to when a middle aged man looks at his beloved car and says, "That's my baby".

Gravity is your friend!

Everytime I leave Cedar Point it feels like I lost a part of myself for another year.
