Do parks need a Hyper coaster to survive?

Do you think parks need a steel or any type of hyper coaster to survive? What's your reaction? *** This post was edited by VIPER on 6/21/2001. ***

If you are talking about steel hypers, then no. Besides SOB, look at PKI. They get along great without a steel hyper. I dont think its necessary, but I would love to see one in that park

all about PKI
the Beasts` Den
They don't need them to survive, but it is a plus for them.
definatly not..... look at holiday world, KBF, rat world, and IOA. those parks dont have hypers and they do a heck of a business. it's all about the market and targets the parks go after. hypers are a great draw. they give name recognition and publicity, but a great park doesnt need them. i'd take the Legend over any hyper, any day.

I'll take Cyclops over Raging Bull. If I could do that, I say that a park does not need a hyper to survive.

Everybodys got something to hide except for me and my monkey!
I don't think a park needs a hypercoaster per se, but it can't hurt either. Would have I made the 9 1/2 hour trip to CP if they didn't have MF and Magnum. No way in hell. But I do realize that plenty of parks are surving without a hypercoaster.
Considering that the vast majority of parks out there don't have hyper coasters, obviously not.

No way. Even though I really like them, a park doesn't need one to survive. Just look at some of the most successful parks like IOA, SFMW, Ect.

Parks don't need a hyper to survive, but if they want to become a major player they better add a hyper.PKI,KBF,and PKI are the exceptions. *** This post was edited by mamba on 6/22/2001. ***
I think the trend right now is to add a Hyper coaster as it is the most popular coaster type being added to parks. It isn't a necessity to survive but it is a big plus. I think Hyper's are following the same path that the Inverted coaster did. It has taking a bit longer to realize that Hyper's are the bomb.

I just got back from riding X-Flight for the first time, and the answer is NO! X-Flight is definately one of the best coasters I have ever ridden, it goes to show that you can do a lot with a coaster that does not have a tall hill.
no they definetly dont.

No, but a signature coaster is VERY important.
