If a company, say Vekoma, were to build the worlds first flying coaster and it had tons of flaws would they be jealous when another company, maybe B&M were to come out with a perfect flying coaster, would Vekoma be jealous or do they just ignore each other?

Well, B&M sure nailed the invert with their first try. Vekoma is still trying to make one that can come close to the quality of ride Batman still delivers after 10 years. I doubt even the smoothest Vekoma SLC will hold up like it has after 10 years.
If I worked for a company that wasn't producing really world class stuff, I'd be a little jealous after experiencing a good Swiss machine.

All companies (not just coaster companies) care about are the black and red numbers. If the black numbers (profit) outnumber the red numbers (debt), THEN they worry about things like R&D and other secondary and tertiary objectives. You want to always be the best, but I don't know how jealousy fits in.

"Yeah, well, I heard your hypercoasters are slutty, and they sleep with all of the Zamperla rides."
"You're just jealous because my coaster is bigger than yours."
Has the new season started yet?
