I know that we did this at the beginning of the year, but my DNR grew today. My list of "Do Not Ride" coasters now includes CHANG. I thought my legs were going to bust open, and they're still hurting now. I think that there is probably a limit to what stand-ups can do and still be comfortable.
Anyway, has anyone had a new entry since the year began to the DNR? Mine has grown to two:
1.OF:FOF
2.CHANG
Really? I enjoyed CHANG last month and had no side effects.
But OL:FOF is on my list! As is NINJA (SFoG & SFSL) and a few similar steel loopers.
And JOKER'S JINX at SFA... Ouch!
I know we'll get flack from those that think we should love ALL coasters... but design flaws (mainly in restraints) are not MY fault and should be re-thought!

If B&M stand-ups hurt you, you're riding them wrong. You must not lean back in to the harness, as you would a wall. You have to keep your weight over your feet (meaning you can't bend your knees). What I find most comfortable is to put my feet as far back as possible and lean in to the harness. This seems to keep you in line with the center of gravity and is extremely comfortable.

Didn't know that I was riding it wrong. I must have missed the sign.
It wasn't like a banging or roughness kind of pain. It was just the G-forces push all of the blood into your legs, and it is a very uncomfortable feeling. I get the same kind of thing on the King Cobra helix, but not as bad.
So on a stand-up, don't stand up straight. But, put your feet as far back as they can go, like touching the wall behind you, and lean forward? Because I just stood up with my legs kinda in front of me on the Mantis, and I was in a decent amount of pain. Every crest hurt.
You've got it, Craig. That's the forumla for success.

Thanks, maybe I can enjoy the Mantis now.
I find the Chang enjoyable even when not using those techniques. Is it because of my height? I am 5'8.
I am going to ride the Chang again on July 13 so I will have to see the way I am standing if I am using those techniques but just dont know it.
