Disney's 3rd California park

I just watched the news a few minutes ago, and they had a feature on DCA. It was mentioned that Disney will build a third park in the Disneyland area when they find space to do it. What kind of park do they plan on building? Has anyone else heard something about this?

Acutally they've already found the space. Check out thirdthemepark.com, a site Disney has put up to promote a third gate in Anaheim. It also talks about some of the possible themes for a third park.

In light of the Budget overruns for DCA, we can only dream at what DL3 would be. But if I had a say ... I'd put them Disney Execs and all the Imagineers in a room with a bottomless bank balance and one mission

...build the Park by which all future Parks will be judged...

As far as family parks go, IMHO IOA has held this title since it opened. IOA is the Park to beat and Disney is the company to do it.

DL3 - Making IOA DOA ... TBA
Well, if the crowds so far are any indication, Disney will more than make up for the cost overruns. 30,00 people a day when they had not even officially opened is insane.

Peace, Love, and Rollercoasters.........we need more of all three.
I think they need to concentrate on orlando, because for the first time, they have competition (IOA). They should build a 5th park in orlando based upon Rollercoasters and thrill rides, think of it, they have so much land and money. They could start out the park with at least 10 coasters. They would beat out all of the competition. Ahhhh, if only...

True they MIGHT have competetion from IOA, but I gurantee you that WDW will ne memorable to the normal GP. I bet if you ask them in about 6 months after their visit what they enjoyed best, they will say WDW and then ask them what else they did in Orlando they will say they went to this really neat place by Universal Studios, but I bet they won't remember the name.

Your comments maybe true ... but when I went to Orlando last July, it was for IOA first, BGT, WDW and SWF second. However I was influenced by the comments and trip reports in forums such as these across many sites and I had already been to DL on several occasions. My trip to WDW was more to fulfil a curiosity about the place and compare differences to DL ... plus I was in Orlando for two weeks so whats a poor boy to do ;-)

Yes, I have way more photos and spent much more time at WDW. The sheer size of the place demands this but the brilliance that is IOA has earned a place in my memories for years to come. In fact, I was thinking of returning there this year but the prospect of DCA, X and Deja Vu may tip the scales in favour of visit to LA.

Realisticly, if DL3 was the IOA-killer I hope for then there would be no doubts in my mind where I would go ...

DL3 - Making IOA DOA

True, all of us love IOA. But in attendance numbers in reality, IOA has done nothing to make WDW nervous. True, prior to opening everyone was looking at IOA, but now its impact has been minimal and has done nothing to Disney.

On the other hand, Universal is now operating two theme parks with attendance figures barely better than with just one, and after operations and stuff they definately aren't seeing the payback they wanted on IOA.
