Disneyland visitors are noticing something a little unusual at the popular theme park — wait times for many rides are less than 30 minutes. The park says that Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge has increased the park's capacity by 20%.

I had one frequent business travel destination where a La Quinta was the only viable option that didn't involve a commute. It was a dump, but everything else nearby was worse.
On the Vateratings scale, my experience with La Quinta has been from Godawful to A Smidgen Better Than Average.
The franchise brands are so wildly inconsistent that you can't even generalize the quality, though certainly some are more strict than others in following the requirements of the company.

Unsure if truly upset or thinks I was trying to say you stole Hedberg's joke. I was merely pointing out that someone showed that Denny's are indeed close to La Quinta's, thereby making Hedberg's (and your!) joke even funnier.... because it's true!
Enh. The data nerd in me says (thereby killing all the fun) it would only be interesting if you ran the same query on La Quinta vs. IHOP and Motel 6 vs. Denny's. It possible that this is just a specific case of the general trend "motels are close to restaurants."
