Disneyland admits liability in wrongful death suit

Disney admitted that the death of Marcelo Torres was caused by maintenance and mechanical failures on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad as a condition of the settlement of the wrongful death lawsuit brought by his family.

That was, in a sad way, the crowning glory of the Pressler/Harris legacy at Disneyland, which can still be felt to this day. It's sad that so many accidents/deaths have occured in the last 10 years, in part thanks to their "run it until it breaks" philosophy of maintaining things at the park. Thankfully Disneyland as a whole is making HUGE leaps and bounds all around thanks to the new managment in the last 2 years. It will be better than ever soon enough.
