I like it. I think this makes a lot of sense. No doubt we'll see more of this throughout the industry.

A little disappointed that another park isn't already doing this after thinking about it three years ago.

We used a similar setup at Be Our Guest for breakfast one morning. Not the mobile app per say but the website. Worked quite smoothly, though we were a bit concerned about how they would find you to deliver the food once you sat down at a table. Alas, magic bands to the rescue.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

It's at Disney, although they replaced all of the terminals recently and, on Friday at Epcot at least, they wouldn't let anyone ever touch them.

Samsung Pay for the win!

Yes. Bursts into flames every time you use it.

That Samsung needs their own payment thing when there's already one in the OS is kind of stupid.

I like having genitals that didn't catch on fire from my phone.

I like that I can use it anywhere. But admittedly, that's a hardware thing.

I wonder if they could have incorporated Android Pay in the same way? Probably, huh?

Honestly, I don't care which backend I'm using. But the phone that I can tap anywhere for payment is gold.

It is funny though that the Note 7 killed the perception of Samsung.

Are you saying your phone physically doesn't have Android Pay? Why would they even do that?

Here's the thing, they're all just the tokenization and virtual card numbers on the Visa/MC network. The hardware itself is the same regardless.

No. It has Android Pay. But Android Pay only works where Android Pay works...which is mostly useless.

The Samsung hardware (and Samsung Pay) works at ANY credit card machine - not just ones accepting or compatible with a certain system.

In that sense, the hardware is very different - it's the hardware that allows that to happen, not the software. It uses MST instead of NFC, so you don't need an upgraded contactless terminal. Any old terminal where you swipe your card will work with Samsung hardware...and Samsung Pay, of course.

I was just wondering aloud whether they could have chosen to use their hardware the same way, but use Android Pay on the back end. It was a barely related thought.

Android Pay works everywhere Apple Pay works, which in my experience is getting close to everywhere now. Even the local ice cream shop uses it.

I know that Samsung Pay can use MST, but the issue is that everyone is getting close to requiring chip reading now, which means the old magnetic magic swipe is going to go away. However, NFC is getting close to ubiquitous now, as it seems to be bundled into most of the POS equipment that uses chips.

It might be. I haven't noticed because I've been using Samsung Pay forever now, while others:

...which was all I responding to.
