Army Rangers lead the way

Yes, they announced that awhile ago, not long though, they are doing both. Countingdown.com or upcomingmovies.com, and much more. ;) Haunted Mansion should be awesome, since they recently made the story for the Tower of Terror, a TV movie! So it should be much bigger since it'[s on the big screen! :)

I am really excited, i am a huge disneylandfan! And the idea of the movie sounds great.

I have to disagree. This sounds ridiculous. Sillier than making a movie based on a video game.
there was a movie for spash mountian, it was called song of the south, it was never released in the US, because it focused on a black slave and was considered 'politiacly incorect'

Song of the South was never released in the US? Wow...

Anyways, I think that Spielberg should buy the rights to Space Mountain.

Song of the South was originally released in the US in 1946. It is unavailable on video here, however, because of racial concerns, that admittedly, I don't know too much about.

And, to be correct, Splash Mountain is based on Song of the South, and not the other way around. You'll find that many of Disney's attractions have roots in previous tales, whether they be movies or novels or short stories.

Country Bears looks pretty good, from what I've seen. I don't know much else about Pirates or the Manion movies, but I'm very, very interested in the latter.

I think The Country Bears film sounds like a really funny concept and it comes out July 26th this summer. I've definitely heard of the Haunted Mansion idea, but maybe since their thinking of changing the theme to A Nightmare Before Christmas, that might not happen. I hope they leave it as it is though. I hadn't heard anything on Pirates yet.

From what I understand about Song of the South is that the organization for African American rights that most people think has been a problem associated with the film has been quoted to have no objections or even have anything to do with the film's release or lack of being released in the US. I believe it has even been reissued for theatrical release a couple times in the 80s and once in the early 90s. Chernabog is definitely right about everything else and maybe the racial issues are true with Disney's feel for the film. There's a lot of films out there that could clearly bother other groups, but I've never seen them banned from home release after going to the theatre. A few months ago, we also noticed that there's a "DVD/VHS" section for SotS on the Disney website which has never been there before. If you feel strongly for the film's release, you might want to go there and support it. If I find the link, I'll post it.

I didn't know that Disney was thinking of changing the Haunted Mansion into a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. I thought they only did that for the holiday season. Which park are you talking about?

Yah I just went to Disneyland this last Sunay and Haunted Mansion (my fav. dark ride for NUMEROUS reasons) was back to normal, but also, everything has been improved since the christmas thing, I would love to see a movie on the haunted mansion.

I KNEW THERE WAS A STORY LINE TO THAT RIDE!

Okay hold on, I distinctly remember going to see Song of the South in the theater with my dad in the mid 80's. I still remember Uncle Remus with the animated blue-jay on his shoulder during Zip-a-dee-doo-dah. Maybe this topic needs some more research. Maybe on my part as well. I remember getting the record of the story of Brer Rabbit soon after seeing the movie also.......hmmmmmmm

Well i did do a little research. It's last theatrical release was in 1986.

And for all of you wondering.....from songofthesouth.net

Q. Where can I purchase the video?

A. Although Song of the South was never released on video in the United States, it was released in a number of other countries, including Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, and Hong Kong. You can purchase the Great Britain PAL format VHS and have it legally converted to VHS NTSC, the standard United States format.

If Song of the South was so "bad" that it couldn't be on video, why is "Birth of a Nation" still around?
