Disney ready to proceed with third California park

Having already revealed their intentions for a third theme park in Anaheim, Disney will formally begin to work with the city to win approval for the new project.

Read the AP report on The Washington Post.

Just back in from a weekend trip, so now I'll take a chance to respond to Volleyguy and KoasterKing.

Have you been to DCA yet? Did you pay the same $60 entrance fee that you have to pay to get into DL? Did you take your 4 and 5 year old, who had a blast at DL (and SFMM and KBF and Legoland)? Mine after a couple of hours at DCA were crying because they were bored to tears. And I can tell you that if I was there without them I would still have been bored.

I love Disneyland, even though they are letting the park go to rot and not maintaining it like they should. But $60/person for a park with that little in it? C'mon, that's just robbery for a place with barely a 1/2 day of entertainment in it. And when they are canceling their plans for new attractions in it (Armageddon, Buzz Lightyear) because people aren't there, and adding the light parade in a desparate attempt to get people to stay in the park, then it's stinking obvious that I'm not the only one with this opinion.

I said this before, and I'll say it again. Before they start the third park, they need to make the second one worthwhile. Because right now DCA stinks. Make it a good park first, then start the third.

I agree that they need to majorly help the second Sir Willow. But that is very surprising that you could be bored with Soarin' Over Cailifornia, Cali Screamin', Maliboomer, Sun Wheel, MuppetVision, Grizzly Falls, Tough to Be a Bug, Mulholland Madness, the Animation building, and most of all the great scenery and atmosphere. I had fun and it was much better than the first year at AK(although I highly enjoy it now). Just give it time. It's no where near a great park, but it's on its way. And our admission was $41 a person. When did it go up to 60. That's pretty steep.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I like the attractions- all 10 of them. But 10 for a whole day of entertainment? That's not much, and it gets old quick. Especially knowing that for the same price I could have had well over 100 at Disneyland. but I fully expect in a few years that DCA will be a great park when they develop it more.

But that's my whole point. They need to further develop and fill out DCA before they start on another park. Get DCA to a full-park status where it's worth the money first, then add the third park. Otherwise they'll end up with 2 half-baked outrageously expensive parks and Disneyland. I'd rather have 2 full parks than that.

I'm sure it will be a full park in 10 years when the next is supposed to open. They really need a RnRC and ToT at DCA. The new Millionaire show should bring in the guests too. They need to at least put a couple more shows in. I thought there were like 20 so-called attractions. Just to say I know it's more than 10, I'll add to my last list: Orange Stinger, Golden Zephyr, King Triton's Carosel, and Superstar Limo(which I found underrated but still pretty bad).
