Disney profit up 12%, theme park profit up 17%

The success of ABC-TV shows such as Desperate Housewives and the unexpected hit High School Musical on the Disney Channel helped hike Walt Disney Co. profit by 12 percent during the first three months of 2006. Disney's theme parks helped too -- despite troubled performances in Paris and Hong Kong -- according to the second-quarter financial report Disney filed Tuesday.

I find this hard to believe. New multi-million dollar attractions simply don't pay for themselves.

Just ask everyone in line for Space Mountain CA and Everest.

Exactly... combine massive advertising, contests and you create the "OMG! I need to go to WDW to ride Everest"!. As for Space Mountain at DL... its Space Mountain... that's all you need to put on the ads!
I know the EE ride and all the shows on Disney, ( exploring Animal Kindom on travel channel in paricular) have got me wanting to go back to a park that I have not visited in many,many years. The new Dolphin resort hotel looks stunning as well.
