Disney Orlando's Next Park?

I was in Orlando a few weeks ago at Islands of Adventure and as I was in my cab ride to the airport, the cab driver said that local rumors were that Disney World was going to make a thrill park for their next park. I can see this happening because they built MGM Studios to be competition with Universal Studios. If they don't make a new park dedicated to thrills then I guess I could see them making Animal Kingdom more thrill oriented and making that competition for both Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and IOA. Do you think it is possible? I mean Disney isn't losing a vast amount of customers yet to Universal but give it a few years and a new theme park at Universal...

I would love to see this happen. Disney already makes some really great rides. Can you imagine a Disney park for thrill seekers! It would be awesome and I think it would work out well for certain families while the little kids could go to Magic Kingdom with mom and dad and the older kids could go to the thrill park!
i agree, at Disney the only really thrilling attractions are Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. I know that if Disney made a park like this it would be first rate. I mean, just look at their other parks.

I heard a while back that Disney was planning to add a coaster to their Animal Kingdom. Just hearsay though.

I heard that too, and it was supposed to be a kiddie coaster.

It would be awesome if Disney built a thrill park. Imagine the theming...
I could imagine the kinds of coasters they would have i hope that is true because i am so close to orlando
with disneys money and great theming there thrill park would look alot like a BG park probally.
Orlando would be a great place to build the next DisneySea..

Disney needs to find enough people to work in the parks they have now, and stop expanding outside of what they have already built.

When I was a kid, Disney was an all day gig. Now some parks close at 9:00 during peak season. They've spread themselves way too thin.

It would be great to see Disney build a thrill park, but I don't see it happening. People were even displeased about DCA. They complained that their kids could only ride about half the rides due to height resrtictions. Disney goes more for family parks, as that is what they're known for.
Disney is not getting the next Milleninum Force. Like was said above and I read on another site, every time they put in something good(Rock and Rollercoaster)you get the extremely anal family types ragging about how their offspring couldn't go on it, like every ride has to fit everyone's little Damian. Universal and Busch are the best bets for big thrills in Florida.
Don't look for a fifth park any sooner than five years down the road. You might see an expansion to Wide World of Sports or the resorts but a new gated park will be a while.
They are expanding an area in the Animal Kingdom and adding new rides. I believe one of them is a Wild Mouse style ride. Also, If I am not mistaken, the original ideas of a flying coaster were being worked via disney (and maybe a vendor) but were not pursued do to the fact it was too off the beaten path and not Disney enough. So they could do some interesting rides if they change their mode of operation. I was there this June and early closing times and lack of workers does make it a little less exciting and fun.
Heres the scoop Disney is addding another park witin 5 years ans its already bein planned. I heard it will be one of the folling four
Disneysea like in tokyo, a florida adventure like california adventure, a park thats like awnother planet, aliens and stuff, and the absolute coolest park imaginable a park dedicated to the disney villians an anti magic kingdom
Disney though will not go for this cuz of the dark and creepy factor for kids

I've read elsewhere that Disney has thought about a villian-themed park (Disney Darkside? Disney Doomland?) It just seems like such an odd thing to theme a park around!
I've heard several people talking about Disney Sea in Tokyo. Could someone please explain what that is?

Anyone here been to DisneyQuest? It is a pretty fun indoor amusement park type place. They have an awesome coaster simulator that you build your ride. It was very cool. It may not be the thrill park you are looking for but it provides lots of fun and excitement.

I have heard about a future Disney park in Orlando. It will probably be in about 2007 based on the time periods b/w the other parks down there. I have heard about the ideas for the park like what GroundskeeperWilly said. I think Disney Sea is the biggest possibility. I think a Florida Adventure is probably unlikely, because California Adventure is not doing so well, and it's biggest attractions in the future will be what MGM Studios already has. Plus it would be hard to make a park about Florida. Disney Villains I have heard about too. That sounds like a cool possibility, and Disney might go with the idea b/c it's something that's never been done...but would still showcase pure Disney. This would be a great park for Thrill Rides! Imagine the kind of themeing for coasters they could come up with in that park!. Also, Disney Quest is cool, but they are shutting them down, except for the one in Orlando.

Shadowland would be a cool name for a Disney villain's park. Imagine an evil Magic Kingdom.
