Disney experiences division invests heavily in cruise line

When Disney announced plans last year to “turbocharge” investment in its Experiences division, which includes theme parks, resorts and consumer products, the company said 20% of the $60 billion over the next decade would go toward its cruise business and other projects that haven’t been announced yet. Disney plans to more than double its fleet from six to 13 ships by 2031 and further expand its service internationally.

They must anticipate a lot of retirees taking their grandkids on cruises/trips to Orlando

That's not at all the demographic on their ships. It's mostly younger to middle age adults and their children.

Cruise lines may run into some international issues in a decade or so...I'm sure Amsterdam is just the beginning. Wonder how growth will be impacted if Europe really hammers down on the industry.

There are a few ports like this, sure. Venice has been threatening the same for years. But Amsterdam aside, many ports wrap up most of their economy in tourism. This is especially true for the tropics. The industry will be fine.
