Disney announces three new attractions for Orlando

Disney executives Friday announced details of three new attractions for the Orlando resort that they plan to open in the next three years. They include Stitch's Great Escape at the Magic Kingdom, Soarin' Over California at Epcot's Land pavillion and a car stunt show at Disney-MGM.

It'd definitely be a reasonably small expense -- the scheme of things -- to produce a new film. The problem, as I see it, is that the addition of this attraction is a fixed cost project. They've already paid to develop the technology and film so there's absolutely no research and development cost associated with the project. If they were developing some next-generation simulator, the cost of a new film would be inconsequential, but since they're using the entire ride system as-is, that cost, relatively, becomes astronomical.

What do I Listen-To?
Hot stuff.

This has been somewhat overlooked but Everest is supposed to contain sections of backward coastering. I am assuming that at some point in the ride the train will stop, transfer and be pushed backward...to be reversed again later. (Somewhat like they do with Maelstrom but this time with a coaster train.)

That is going to add an interesting and perhaps thrilling element to the ride.

Well...Michael Eisner declared tha DCA is a tribute to the state that saw them born and grow, where all began, so it is like a thank to all the state, culture, and the folklore of California. Even though I think they are planning the Sorin' atracction at Epcot, in The Land Pavillion, because they are fucussin on the agricultural side, because of the agricultural richness of the Golden State...somehow, I find this somekind rude to the Florida State....they should make the same thing but with florida footage cause it's the second home state of the Disney culture....I think it would been very nice if insted they change the name to Soarin' Over The World, or something like that, with a movie of different places of the planet....I would be better if they make this in World Showcase....OK, someone dreamin here about been an Imagineer...hahaha....And Expedition Everest will be a roller coaster...

Specific information on the attraction is still very thin on the ground, however the following has surfaced, but is yet to be fully confirmed.

Max Height of Track: 120 ft
Max Drop: 80ft
Max Speed: 50mph
Trains will travel in both forward and backward directions

see ya....

See, I don't see there being a conflict at all with the Cali theme of the ride. It makes perfect business sense, of course, but why would the film need to be themed to Florida?

How many people actually visit both parks?

That, and at Epcot there's also a Canada film, a China film, etc. etc. The place is international, not just FL-Focussed.

That Alien Encounter is leaving is a dissapointment to me. It seems like its the perfect ride for teens or younger adults at the park that may be there with younger siblings. It's called having something for everyone. That's the definition of a family park, not just a bunch of stuff for kids.

Bring back Captain EO.

Firstly , CoasterBabe , the ride WILL be thrilling , as demonstrated by marioga's stats. An 80 foot drop isn't too shabby.

Second , I was under the impression that Soarin' over Cali. was coming as a tribute to Disneyland's 50th, and that the ride's film would be replaced after that, no?
