Discovery Ch. Shoot SFA 10/18 Day 1

Associated parks:
None

After taking part in the Batwing media day, I was kind of familiar with how the shoot would go. The weather was brisk, but not too bad until the sun started to go down. Today did have some differences from the media day. For one thing, I didn't know anyone except for Sam A. Marks. Second, the park was completely closed. After walking down to the ride, we waited around for sometime while the crew set up the camera mount. Coasterbuzz forums were a hot topic among a few of us though, and it kept us occupied. Sam was the narrator, so they did some closeups with him first. After signing on the dotted line for Termite Art Productions, the rest of us joined Sam for several rides. Most of us rode near the front for most of the rides. But three of us moved towards the last row for a few of the rides, and we were rewarded with a much more smoother ride then the front. For the last couple of rides, they moved us two rows up from the rear so they could get some closeups with a park employee. My only complaint today was, as usual, my infamous bladder. I had to make several trips to the Gotham City bathroom, which feels like it's three miles away from Batwing. For those attending on Friday, have fun.

Lastly, there were several pieces of machinery clearing out trees to the left of Batwing. To the right back of Batwing, there were several large concrete drainage pipes. Karin, the PR person wouldn't confirm or deny anything for next year. Make of that what you will. I also rode with Harold, the lead Batwing tech, and he said his winter will be filled with rebuilding the Batwing trains.

ohh yes intamin fan, that was I who you were talking with on the back of batwings train. It was a good day with a lot of rides, I can't wait till tommorow!
it was alot of fun hanging with you guys in the back of the trains and i'll be there tomorrow again.
You know I'm surprised they would do the shoot with the park closed. In all the other programs you usually see the park filled with guests and with  all the rides running.Don't they usually film during the height of the summer season? And what with all the trees being cleared behind Batwing that must mean they are building something big perhaps it might be the rumored stand-up coaster.I'll have to check that out when I go to SFA on the 27th.
When you say clearing trees are you talking major lumberjacking or just a little trim?

We're talking major lumberjacking (I'm not using an exclamation point yet). But, you can well imagine a nice sized ride would fit in between S:ROS and Batwing. I was told that any offical announcements, if any are coming, won't be made until 2002 like last year. It was cool hanging out with the two other Coasterbuzz members besides Sam.

BFS, I agree that it was strange that the park was closed for taping. But, Batwing has no rides behind it, so no one will no the difference unless they shoot towards S:ROS. I forget what TLC program it was on, but they shot Millennium Force when no one was in the park. You can tell because there's no one waiting in line!

The only construction I want to see back there is a bathroom and multiple water fountains...if they want to "throw in" a HUSS Delirium, then I wouldnt complain...but the stand up can wait another year. Hell, they already are "short-staffed"

Hey Chitown, please close this topic and kick both of them off the furoms (sic). 2Hostyl and Jack Daniels No 7 do not belong in these forums at all. Plus 2Hostyl seems to have a problem to complaine (sic) alot and get into it with others. - IL_MForce_Junk

Yes a new bathroom in that area would be nice but a new coaster would be good as well.If we are talking "major lumberjacking" versus a "little trim" then you know it's probably gonna be something big coming for 02.We'll just have to wait and see.
Actually, if you pay close attention to the first ofthe MF clips from the other Discovery Channel shows this year (the one with the black guy), youll notice that it is the POV that CP shot back before the station was even done being built...trust me, compare the two and youll see that the guy was edited in there afterwards
