Different trains for tracks

I've been wondering who has been wanting parks to put stand-up cars on the average looper your home park already has, or maybe floorless trains on a hypercoaster? Anyone have those feelings?

Take it up a notch, Mr. Operator! I wanna feel my brains in my feet!

The stand up cars on existing loopers has been done, not very successfully though. WOF did theirs in 1984 but had to convert back to sit down due to track stress. SFSTL also converted one of their mine trains to stand up, but an accident led them to stop that. It is difficult to add a stand up train to an existing looper because the track was never designed for that. Coasters are frequently designed using center of gravity. On a stand up, you move the center of gravity higher, and creates a ride experience that was never designed to be. The trains are typically heavier too, which can cause the metal stress. I don't know that much about how a normal hyper converted to a floorless would operate. I am sure others can fill you in on that.

I have thought about it, but it would probably never happen. Certain rides are designed for certain ride types. Like already been said, you can't put floorless trains on Mantis. It was designed to be a stand up and that is what it will remain to be. Of course you can put them on, but it wouldn't be a fun ride. If a park wants a stand up roller coaster then they will build one, if they want a hyper coaster then they will build one. If you wanted a hyper stand up, well, they wont build one. There would be too much pressure on your legs.

If it is designed right, then no, there wouldn't be too much pressure on your legs. The pullouts my have to be more gradual, but it is possible.

Intelligence is a God given gift: Know how to use it.

Yes, I know it is possible, but I doubt a park will ever build one.

Togo and Meisho have done the stand up, sit dow, and enclosed car switches many times and they've been quite successful. I still remember when Space Probe got the exact trains Magnum has, and man did the change the ride experience completely. Those crappy Morgans did not work for this indoor family coaster, but Okamoto sure turned that around with these new trains.

Matt, you oviously haven't been to Yomiuriland or tried Fujin-Raijin, because both park have been running their converted coasters fine. See, we didn't go over to Japan for help with are silly coaster conversions. They have the geniuses, and know how to do it right.
