Did SoB start the trend?

Does anyone else think that SoB started the trend of looping coaster with lapbars? I mean wasn't it the first big one?

Not the first one, on Schwarzkopf models, it was the norm. They featured a more traditional lap bar vs the belly bar on SOB. What SOB did do however was produce a new type of bar that can be used on multi inversion rides, and has been proven on FOF. So SOB may have resurrected the lap bar on loopers, and definitely paved the way for lap bars on other inversions.
SOB lapbars most certainly paved the way for FoF's lap bars, because they are almost identical!

What do you expect, Craig, it's the same manufacturer! :)

yeah, up until Arrow started making loopers, in the late 70's no Shwarzkopf coasters had OTSR's. They started putting them in later, like on the Revolution at SFMM(which ruined the ride). Hopefully they will start taking them out again on rides that they are unnecessary or too rough.
