Developer wants to restore Buckeye Lake

A developer would like to restore Buckeye Lake amusement park outside of Columbus, Ohio. The plans include the reconstruction of The Dips roller coaster and ballroom. The first round of financing required is $5 million, which would include the coaster, facility and parking construction.

Well, if CP can't make money on a themed "boardwalk" section of the park ala Lost Kennywood, then I don't know how this park would survive.
CP never tried to make a "boardwalk".

Jeff, this thing I think is near a popular rec area and a housing dev.
Edit: Jeff, I dorve to Conneaut Lake to ride one coaster (11 times) and went home ;)

I have no problem with a new park opening or being restored, but some place other than Ohio or California or Florida would be nice! They have enough parks, but since it is already there I am all for, but I don't know how it will compete with all the other parks there.

Interesting. John Wolfe (Wolfe Enterprises, Dispatch Printing Company) currently owns some land out there. (which exact land, i don't know) So, I wonder if he could be one of the investors. This idea could work, but they would need to remain an annual picnic park.

I actually remember going to Buckeye Lake MANY times when I was a kid visiting my aunt and uncle here in Ohio. They had a "Wild Mouse" type ride that was situated where it was like you were going to fall into Buckeye Lake on one of the turns. I remember their haunted house, and they had a POP option too. It would be awesome for this place to be rebuilt.
With PKI 1.25 hours away and CP :) 2.75 hours, Buckeye Lake would be maybe 30 minutes-woo hoo!
Sounds good to me!!

It could be just a bit of a myth, but my one of my parents told me that a car off of the wild mouse coaster once jumped the track and landed in the lake.  Whether it is true or not I do not know, but i'm sure the tale made it an intimidating coaster to young riders.
My science teacher told me that they had a crash there and 100 people died

Oh, I just received an e-mail from a top offical at Buckeye Lake who said there are no planes to restore this place.
