I am registering to go to the Demon's B-Day party on Sept. 1. However, I don't want to drive from San Diego to Santa Clara alone, and we don't know yet if Dutchman can get off work. Is anyone else from Southern California planning on driving up for the event?
Is this PGAs alternative to pleasing there customers considering they pretty much have gotten rid of all their other rides from the Marriott generation? I think its cool they are celebrating this ride but it seems they are stretching to please the GP.

This is the one area in which I will defend PGA. They have always had a great relationship with the ACE members in Northern Cal. This isn't anything new, they have done it since Paramount took over. PGA and PKI throw great events that should not be missed. Besides, it's free and there is plenty of ERT on Stealth, Top Gun and Invertigo. Thanks PGA!!!
Unfortunately, I cannot attend the birthday party for The Demon because my membership hasn't finished the processing stage...which really stinks. :( I've been riding the demon since 1982 and I would love to attend...but I didn't find out about the party until it was too late. Oh well, there's always the next big event...Peace. :)
Wasn't the Demon the same coaster that got stuck in mid loop a little while back?
Boomerang was if your talking about a year ago.

cyrbuzz, that was its sister coaster at SFGAm. Also the Demon. Same exact layout coaster.

Just wanted to update on how lame PGA is. Didn't attend, but from what I heard, everyone had a great time, and got lots of free goodies.
BUT, can someone who attended please explain to me the purpose of all this? The very next day, all the effects were gone again and it was back to the same old weak, outdated, castrated ride. Plus, the Demon actually opened in March of 1980. What was the purpose of celebrating the Demon's 20th birthday on September 1st? Shouldn't this have occured in March, on the real birthdate? I thought the whole purpose of this big whoop de do was to reintroduce the original theming and efx that Paramount has neglected to maintain since they got ahold of the park. But apparently it was just to drum up some publicity and nothing more. Totally lame.

We were told that the original theming will return permanently next year, and that they wanted it personally for us on that day. It was a great event and I have to give them credit where credit is due. Draco, I share some of your frustration with this park, it has been poorly run for years now and I'm sick of the park ripping out attractions just for the hell of it. But like a dummy i'll continue buying my season pass and visiting twice a year. I have a strange loyalty to this park despite how crappy it has become, and I always hope that they will wake up one day and realize that all the other California parks have long passed them by. They do throw GREAT events though :)
