I've never been on one of these. Could someone tell if they are rough or even worth it?
If you mean the one at Cedar Point then yes it is worth it. Granted it's no where near as exciting as the new generation free-fall towers. The load time is slow and the ride is kinda short, but it is worth riding. As far as roughness, nah it's not too bad. Certainly easier on the body than Mean Streak. ;-)

I personally don't understand why people trash the Demon Drop. Shure the free fall towers are more exciting, scary, and open, but the Demon Drop is a blast. Its not rough at all, and due to the Power Tower, every time we went to ride it, it was either a walk on, or close to it. Don't go out of your way just to get on it, but if your there, I definitly would make an effort to get a ride or two on it. It's a great thing to do if your just strolling out of the park after a nice long day of coaster riding, and your looking for one last ride to go on.
P.S. Also gives a great veiw of the parking lots. lol

Ride 'Till you drop

Although we didn't do the Deamon Drop we did ride the ones at SFO and SFGADV. Not a bad ride. I bet in the early mid 80's when they came out they were highly rated like the Chance Chaos now. The only rough spot is when the car moves out on the top of the lift. It does a little banging a second or tow to look around then WOOSH! The drop is way shorter then Power Tower but still fun. I like the end when you travel on your back to the brakes.

I think the one at SFoG needs a vat of WD-40 cause it banged us up alot! It was as if the metal surfaces just slammed against each other... It scared me from trying other ones... but if you guys say they're better, I will...

Demon Drop at Cedar Point is worth it. I didn't think it was rough at all, but if you evr get on one, remember to keep your head against the headrest on the way down. I forgot to do this the second time I rode and the G-Force's that are recieved as the car levels out are pretty high, and it hurts if your head gets slammed back into the headrest.

I have been on Mr. Hyde's at SFO and DD at CP. I think that they give you a better "stomach in your throat" feeling than the new ones. The only rough spot is at the end when the car turns back right side over.
