DelGrosso's gets a new coaster for '07!

Well, new for them, anyway. RCDB is listing them as the buyer of Libertyland's Revolution, an old Arrow Loopscrew.

For enthusiasts that may not be much of a ride, but for a park like DelGrosso's, that's a fine addition. They'll get plenty of marketing with the locals, for less cash than most flatrides.

I just hope they leave themselves enough room for the woodie they've beentalking about. :)

Poor URL tag, you broke it!

Ironically, I had said to a park employee that it would be great to see a nice wood coaster someday, and she told me they just bought a "looping coaster"

Of course, Im thinking it's a Pinfari looper or something really, really bad. Fortunatly, it's this.

Now if only someone could make sure the Zippin Pippin is saved, as I have a bad feeling that it won't be... even by the people who just wanted it for it's train.

Right, instead of really, really bad, they get one that's just kinda sorta bad.

Sorry couldn't resist. ;) Seriously, though, good for them.

Heh, so that's the culprit picture! For some reason, ever since the first time I saw pictures of this exact Loopscrew, I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to build it in RCT. It's just impossible to get the corkscrews and the hills to work out right!

Sorry, random thought ;) Good for the park.

Interesting. Delgrosso's will be the only park in western PA with a looping coaster.

I do believe that they should still plan on a wooden coaster sometime. It's just a question of where to fit it in.

As for Zippin Pippin, how about rebuilding it at Idlewild? Idlewild could use a wooden coaster that is bigger than Rollo Coaster and they do have the room for one.

Any ideas to as its location? The park seems pretty tight on space, aren't there houses surrounding two sides and roads on the other?
Unless it's built within the train tracks or pavilions.

For those who haven't ridden this thing, it's AMAZINGLY good....eerily good. Not sure why, it's *supposed* to be the same thing as the other "LoopScrews"....not even close!

Nice to know I won't be missing a "credit" by going to DelG's in August...LOL! ;)

GREAT move, DelGrosso's....they seem to be really smart about the additions, etc... :)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Hey I am all for that! :)

Great news. We're planning a PA coaster trip next summer and this adds to it nicely.

We're planning on hitting: Waldameer, Conneaut, Lakemont, Dutch Wonderland, Kennywood, Delgrosso, Idlewild. (and possibly Hershey).

I'd like to see CLP get a looper. God knows, they've got the room for it.

Way to go, Delgrosso!

Too bad they didn't save an extra $5000 for the Zippin Pippin. I'm assuming that it will get torn down, although it would have been nice to see it go to DelGrosso's or Idlewild. They could have renamed western PA "Millerland".
too bad Lakemont didn't snag the Pippin. What a score for Blair County.
Call me weird or strange, but I like the Arrow Loopscrews!
You're weird! Or strange! ;) Just kidding.

They are hit or miss for me. I enjoyed Demon, Double Loop, and Corkscrew (CP) but got bad headbanging on Carolina Cyclone. Nice to hear this one is smooth, hopefully I can get to DelGrosso's next year to check it out.

Haven't ridden Carolina Cyclone but I loved Demon, and CP's Corkscrew, and if remember correctly my one ride on Double Loops was certainly fun.

I just miss the days when CP's Corkscrew's bunny hop was hidden. Stupid Power Tower.

They can just straddle Old Route 220 with it. :)

Good acquisition. And considering they got it for a fraction of what Knoebels sold Breakwind, I mean, Whirlwind for. And only $24,945,000 less than KK.

Personally, I like Arrow multiloopers. Maybe some people think that they are too rough on the head and neck but I always enjoyed rides like PKDs Anaconda and KWs former Steel Phantom. I just wish that I had had a chance to ride BGEs Drachen Fire while it was there.

This ride means that DelGrossos will very likely be on my park itinerery next year.

This was easily the smoothest Arrow coaster I have ever been on. Like 'gator said, it was almost too good. You look at it and see a fairly industrial looking, old Arrow looper. You ride it and you can't help but wonder if they were all that good when they opened.
Uh... bad news about Zippin Pippin. As printed in this week's Newsweek:

"The car is all we needed." Robert Reynolds, co-owner of a traveling museum called the Honky Tonk Hall of Fame & Rock-N-Roll Roadshow, on buying the Zippin Pippin, Elvis Presley's favorite roller coaster, for $2,500. He wants to keep only one car; he's been given 30 days to dismantle and dispose of the ride's 2,800 feet of track.

(also viewable here)

Good news about DelGrosso's though. Great addition to the park and they probably got it for a steal if Zippin Pippin went for 2.5 grand.

Most Arrows went bad over time, but i still like them. DollyWoods Tennessee Tornado is awesome.
