DelGrosso's announces new ride for 2015, water park for 2016

DelGrosso's has announced a new ride called Rock Star for 2015. The Rock Star is a thrill ride that elevates riders 55' above the midway, on top of a flying platform. The park will break ground for a $12.5 million water park and front gate expansion, set for completion in 2016.

Read the press release from DelGrosso's Amusement Park.

It looks like the layout and design changed slightly from the leaked plans. I notice the addition of two (or three?) water park entrance gates and the omission or the kid's area beside the wave pool. Also the bridge to the park side now has no buildings surrounding it, and it seems the lazy river was changed just a little to enable the path to not travel so close to the existing changing room building.

This area has always needed something like this. When DelGrosso's built the water park in 1997, they said that they planned on expanding it. That park is always busy. It is a local favorite. The few waterslide they do have are modern and really fun, so this expansion will work well.

I noticed a lot of people complaining about the admission increase under their Facebook post. Those people can go to Lakemont instead, for all I care. lol $29.99 is not bad for what the park will be offering.

When I was a teenager, it was about $12, but that was 20 years ago.

Someone please tell me when I can stop kicking myself for missing their indoor Caterpillar. I thought it was a Trabant and skipped...

Side note: DelG's sauces are pretty much available in all our grocery stores here in FL.

But, do they have the Pepperoni Flavored Spaghetti Sauce? I always pick up some groceries when I'm there as they have a better selection than my local grocers and the cost is a lot less too.

Yes, +1 for the pepperoni flavored sauce. Our local market an hour north of Pittsburgh sells it for a buck a jar. Can't beat it.

Visited a friend in Johnstown for a few days a couple years back but never made it to Lakemont or Del Grosso's. Still kicking myself for that. Sounds like a great place with some nice additions on the way.

Nice I planned to go to Kennywood this year and this park looks like I should check it out.

The people in Pittsburgh are still complaining about Kennywood going POP, and that happened what, about thirty years ago? I think that there is something in the water in Western PA.........

Kennywood didn't go full POP-only until 2005. There used to be the option for non-riders to pay a small general admission fee, and they still used tickets/wristbands up until that point.

I just saw an interesting video from the local news about the park, and thought that a few people here would like to watch it.

At least Del Grosso's is getting a new ride to justify *their* price increase... are you paying attention Michigan's Adventure?
