After a three month delay, Six Flags Magic Mountain's Deja Vu is finally open to the public. The ride has been getting rave reviews, and most agree it is a great addition to the park. Check out ACN for videos, photos and a ride review.

PKDstar, if only you had been on it like I was at Media Day, it's so much more than that. I pitty you for not riding it yet! They are two WAY different rides!

My god some of you sound so jaded:  "It's like Invertigo but bigger."  So what?  I ride coasters because they're fun.  Deja Vu is fun.  Is it the end-all be-all of coasters?  Of course not.  But I hope I never get so jaded that I stop riding something like Deja Vu just because it's "just like something else."

Sheesh!

how can you have little leg room on an inverted-type train?

please elaborate!

yeah i suppose it would be kind of hard to cram your legs in on an inverted coaster.

lol

As you go up the tower, the cars come closer and closer together.  There isn't that much clearence between each car.

Glad everybody enjoys it.  See, we didn't have to judge the ride before it opened(as some people did just because it was from Vekoma).
Wow, way to rip off the promo music Six Flags put on it's DVu video.. :-)

What song is that?!?!?!?! I want to download/buy it! :)

Jeff / bombman:  Sorry to contradict you but the space between each row of seats does not diminish, it only increases.  Trains transverse the outside of each curve, meaning all the curves of the track are convex. Each row of seats will fan out from each other, not in towards each other. The closest each row of seats will be to another row is on a flat piece of track, either in the station *or* on the spikes.

Another way to illustrate this is to imagine a sphere with people standing on the outside, all holding hands in a circle around it.  The distance between their heads is greater than the distance between their feet.  However if they were to stand on the inside of the sphere it would be the opposite.

When the trains transition from curve to straight and the distance between each row returns to normal there is the ILLUSION than the space is momentarily smaller.

I really liked Deja Vu.  It reminded me of a combo of Invertigo and V2.  It blew away my expectations and was very smooth and lots of fun.  However  I do have some MAJOR issues:

First there's the queue.  People in odd-numbered queues are waiting for the middle two seats. Those in even-numbered queues are waiting for the two outside seats.   There is about 18" of space between the middle seats and the back of the row in front of it.  When the gates open somehow the first person in the even-numbered queue must find a way to get past the two people sitting in the middle seats and around to the single seat on the far side.  The OSTRs of the middle seats also make it difficult to get through.  This is really going to slow down dispatches.  When we waited for the front or rear rows we actually went *around* the train instead of thru it.  An obvious solution to this would have been to create one queue line for each row of four [like how B&M does it] so that the first person out of the gate can easily take the far seat.

My other issue is the seating arrangement on the train.  Yes, the outside seats do have the best view and more leg room but let's look at this from the viewpoint of the average park goer.  for the most part people pair up so they can sit next to someone they know.  If you have a pair in each queue line and they all want to sit next to each other how is that possible?  It isn't!  Small quibble, yes, but I think this will also slow down dispatches.

Lastly the Fastlane queue meets up with the stand-by queue right as you enter the station.  We all agreed that's where the first fight will take place.

But even with those complaints I would not hesitate to ride it again on future visits and I think it's a good addition to the park.

i had no idea dejavu had 90 degree angle lifts and it crossed over itself. i read on coasternet that it was an invertigo design. ok, that is awesome. i cant wait to ride it.
Just got back from MM. Got two rides on Deja Vu, one in the morning and one at night. Awesome ride. They seem to be having problems keeping it running. Didn't open till around noon and was closed again from 2 to 7pm. Anyone know what kind of problems they are having?
Mamoosh:  Extend your feet to the car in front of you (when sitting in one the middle seats) next time you ride.  Let me know if you notice how you start off with plenty of room, but as you head further up the tower your legs get crushed.

I am just referring to the fact that it appears you have enough legroom while heading up the tower, but as you get vertical the legroom diminishes.

xbombman:  OK...I'll try that out.  Still seems odd to me that it would happen given the nature of the curves but I'm willing to admit I could very well be wrong ;-)
Just rode Deja-Vu. I'm not a big boomerang fan but I have to admit this coaster is pretty cool. The vertical drop from the back seat is pretty gnarly.  And the seating arrangment on the ride is quite interesting.  Ride this if you can!
