Deconstruction has begun at Six Flags Darien Lake

Deconstruction of Cascade Canyon has begun at the park. The hillside is filled with debris of the old slides and wooden support structure. A proposed new Shoot the Chutes ride will be taking its place for the 2002 season.

A Shoot the Chutes ride was up for approve, but if approved WILL NOT be in that section of the park. *** This post was edited by MPD47 on 10/29/2001. ***
Why do they keep tearing rides down when they have so much room for expansion? I'll be happy with a shoot the chutes, though. /P>

Jeff, what is all of this that keeps showing up on my posts? *** This post was edited by scanz on 10/29/2001. ***

Very Simple Reason. The prk wants all the rides to be in one area. Where as compared to where they were the water park was in two different sections of the park
No trust me MPD, I asked 2 mechanics and a ride supervisor they both said either a Shoot the Chutes or large water ride was going in that spot for 2002.

Just because mechanics think they know what they are talking about, doesn't mean they do. Whatever happened to the dueling woodies and the Jokers Jinx (Which everyone talked about) in 2000? ;-). I think we will get a shoot the chutes too, but you can't trust those mechanics about anything...

I will unleash the fury soon :-)

Yeah but when 3 people tell you the same thing it is a pretty strong truth then. And they plain out told me what it is no time to think at all and they knew where I was talking about. It is also a big chunck of land, which could easily fit in a shoot the chutes.

Is it confirmed a chute the chutes will be built and in that spot?? Is that all we're getting?? this doesn't make sense in a way...

It's almost a given fact. The proposed Shoot-the-Chutes will absolutely not fit in the area where Cascade Canyons was placed. It's too small. That ride requires a bigger area than you think.

If they moved Cuda Falls (the tube slides) so the entire section is cleared... then the shoot-the-chutes can fit in that area. Otherwise, it's tooo small. They'd have to move the log ride to accomodiate the new ride.

Where it WILL go most likely will be in the area where the Mind Eraser is currently located as well as the lake there. They have the room, and it makes sense because all the water rides will be within the same area in just a short walking distance. Besides, they have all that space that's being only used as a walk-way to the Mind Eraser... doesn't make too much sense from an expansion point-of-view if you want to kind of disperse your rides.

- Behind the Scenes, and 2002 construction pics...coming soon

You can fit next to Predator or over by Boomerang & Fun Lake.  If Darien Lake is one of the three parks getting impusles next year it could go on the narrow piece of land behind Predator, actually it could go anywhere.
lol ryan316!  I also will be happy with what we get....anything new is something good! (even if it's winter treasures gift shop!)

lol.. don't say that.... no more winter treasures!!

hehe, that had to have been the worst addition in Darien Lake history....

The other reason for keeping thing in the same area is the cost of the infrastructure.  A restroom in a new are costs a small fortune with all of the plumbing.  Then there is the cost of drainage, roads, landscaping, etc.
Alan, does this mean that we may possibly be getting a coaster?
