Debate over federal regulation continues in Washington

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

The debate continues over whether or not the feds should be involved with regulating the safety practices of the industry. On one hand, the same old tired arguments from the politicians and the Consumer Products Safety Commission, on the other hand, the industry who says that such regulation wouldn't actually help anything.

Read the latest drama from The Washington Post.

Doesn't this Markey guy have anything better to do with his time; fight against homelessness, fight against starvation, or screw his secretary for crying out loud?
Does everyone know that great feeling of excitement right before you reach the crest of the lift hill??
Well, I do. Did it ever occur that Pearl Santos could have had her brain annyuresm there??
great, just make them post a list of all the injuries and deaths realted to a ride at the rides entrance, at let people make up their own minds if they want to ride or not.
Notice how they don't show any deaths in 2000

Because there was no deaths i beleave.

And some states don't have any any theme parks in them.

I agree with staticman00. I also heard that it is actually safer to ride a Roller Coaster than it is to fly.
SFGA_Maniac, brain annyuresm are long time occuring diseases, the actuall weak blood vessals, take years to become unstable. So no she could not have developed one on the lifthill. It was her fault, she should have taken the neccesary precautions to prevent herself from being injured.

That's just the kind of stupid comment that Dave is talking about.

Grow up. If you want to talk issues, talk issues. Don't let the point get watered down and lost in a bunch of juvenile nonsense.

Dave thanks I understand what Markey is doing now a lot better.

The only thing is will this bill make it so that half of the coasters at our favorite parks are closed because the CPSC is investigating a splinter from the hand rail in the station house?

I'm not trying to be a smart ___ on that last comment, but to get to a point. How far will they go on the accidents and injuries?
If the amusement industry gets new laws and regulations we most likely are going to see the stop of any growth in extreme rides! The government will most likely not allow things that pull more g's, go faster or higher. I think that if the government gets involved they will ruin the industry and all that is good!
