I think that the problem was the exits of the second and third loops both being toward the side of the MCBR. They realized that the exits should both be on the other side, giving them another 15 feet or so to make the turn. Arrow changed this on GASM.
That is the worst part of the ride by far, but the boomerang (taken in front or back cars) takes a close second. Lots of whipping, push/pull action there.

I've ridden both Shockwave and Viper (SFMM) dozens of times and there is most definitely a difference. GASM I have not ridden, so I'm not sure it's relative "smoothness" in comparison to either Shockwave or SFMM's Viper.
Dead mans curve is pretty much the reason why I dont like Shockwave. If Arrow would have understood that it would be so rough I dont think they would have done it. Viper (at SFMM) even though I have never rode it seems alot smoother. I wish we had clone or something else other than Shockwave. But The new B+M flyer will do just fine.
Whoa...hold up. The second worst element of that ride is definitely the 90 degree turn after the first loop. The boomerang isn't fun, but its not as rough as the aforementioned transition.
I'm glad we're having this discussion. It's good to reaffirm that the ride really did suck in order to ease the pain of its dismantling.
