DDR named one of the top videogames of all time

The new issue of Entertainment Weekly has an article on the top 100 videogames ever, and DDR was named No. 40. I thought that was pretty cool.

However I was even more surprised to see that my personal No. 1 all-time favorite game, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES), also was the magazine's No. 1 game. w00t!!1

Some of the others in the top 10 included Tetris, GTA3, Doom, Super Mario 64, Street Fighter II and Halo. Roller Coaster Tycoon was No. 68.

Personally, if I had to pick a Mario game for the top 10, it'd be the highly underrated Yoshi's Island (SNES).

Anyone else see the list? If so, discuss...

I really liked Super Mario 64.

Well, I used to be able to see TTD from my house, then I moved.
Life's not fair.

I saw the list, Super mario 64 was revolutionary but I did not like how you had to get stars, I wish it was more level set. I liked how rct got in there.

To tell you the truth when I first saw rct, I decided to get sim theme park because it looked a whole lot cooler but then I stoped playing and I found out that my friend(who is not an enthusiast) had it and so I got addicted to rct because it was so much easier and fun.

A true enthusiast goes on the kiddie coasters.

Thats pretty much the same exact situation with me. My friend who isnt really into coasters a whole lot got it and got me into the game.

Mario 3 was by far my favorite Mario game. I think it was the biggest single step in the series.

Not to be an ass or anything...

But DDR really doesn't deserve to be in the top 100 list of video games.

Well so far all you've really done here is be an ass, so it's kind of expected.

I saw that, and frankly I was surprised DDR even got the attention. Mainstream gamers aren't generally DDR players and DDR players aren't generally mainstream gamers.

Konamix also made the GAMES 100 in GAMES Magazine last year (it's mainly a crossword/word puzzle magazine but it also has articles on board games and video games). I think DDR MAX came out too late to make the list.

Mario 3 was indeed a great game, but I don't think many people have even played Yoshi's Island (subtitle: Super Mario World 2). It's level-based just like Mario 3, yet you can (optionally) go back into the cleared levels and collect stars and red coins to earn new levels. Plus the graphics and FX are stunning for 16-bit.
