Highs Off U?! That's unexpected...I wonder if it does the same on the arcade version.
Yes sir. It's no different in the arcade.
Here's a tip for those of you struggling with the harder Mission Mode challenges: Go to DDRfreak, print out the stepchart and play from that.
This especially helps with the ones where you have to hit only 1/4 or 1/8 notes, or the ones with the "flip" mod where the stationary arrows are mixed up. For example, in the one where you have to hit only 1/4 notes during the chaotic ending of Drop Out Oni, I just highlighted the 1/4 notes on the stepchart and passed it no problem (after a dozen failures without it).
This also works for the ones where you can't hit the same arrow twice in a row. Just cross out any instances of that on the stepchart.
For the ones where you can't ever hit a certain arrow, if the stepchart thing doesn't work, I suggest you tape a thin strip of paper to your TV to cover that particular arrow.
Edit: I take that back, Maximizer is really easy compared to some other 8 footers. *** Edited 10/11/2004 4:38:44 PM UTC by ddrxttd***

I don't know if I'm ready to call this the best mix, but it certainly has the best batch of licensed songs. I think maybe DDRMAX has the best selection of Konami originals (if not Konamix).

-I like the new songwheel. I don't really see how someone could hate this , since it doesn't really affect much in my mind.
-I love the way that 2player can join in anytime they want, I utilized that a few times.
-I love the music videos. The ones for Jet World and Move your feet are great, and funny. The new ones for You're not here and Your Rain are very well done.
-Doubles Mode. I almost think that this game was made for Doubles play, as every song I played on doubles was at least as good or better than it's singles counterpart.
Dislikes
-The first time you play it, you are really annoyed by the interface, since it kind of hurts your eyes. The game has a lot of Dark hues
-Tons of the songs have really awful steps, and I really , really hate songs that only follow half of the music, or break up eighth not runs. Plus, this mix is suuuloooooooowww. Half the songs don't even break 130 BPM.
-Changes to Training Mode, like losing the option of slowing down songs, and the random addition of Marvellous steps. Leve the Marvelous to Oni.
-Not having the Fuwa Fuwa, .25, .5, single column, and brake mods outside of Mission mode. Those mods are awesome, and deserve to be in every song.
Mission Mode-I'm torn on this one, because lots of the songs I really love, but there are some missions that are next to impossble without some changes to your own game like putting tape on the screen, reading the steps in a mirror, etc. I really hate the missions where you have to good attack stuff, but that's something I'll just have to learn how to do.
Songlist
Perfect-321 Stars, A, Jet World,Kick the Can Doubles, You're not Here
Great-All the Konamix songs except On the Jazz. V, Frozen Ray, Your Rain, Maximizer, Never Ending Story, Highs Off U, Only You, Theme From Enter The Dragon, Legend of Max(would be perfect if it wasn't overloaded with jumps)
Good-A Stupid Barber,Don't Clock Me, CSFIL:SM, Go West(Just for being Hilarious), Move Your Feet, Both Trip Machines and Paranoias
Almost-The Karaoke Revolution Songs except Beleive, Kids in America, Ecstacy, YMCA, Keep on Movin
Boo-Believe, Diving(terrible steps), Funk Boogie, Make it better(yeah, the song), Ecstacy Remix.
The rest of the songs I never played.
I finally unlocked V last night. I believe the Challenge steps to that song are among the best stepcharts of all time. So many crossovers, with cool gallops thrown in there, not to mention the constant jackhammer steps.
Now I'm just waiting for Maximizer... and the Trick Oni course. Stupid unlock system!
As for the Trick Oni course, you have to play the Oni mode to get that one.
Or you can beat mission mode and unlock everything.
And now that I'm on the second screen of Mission Mode, it's starting to get *really* tough. I'm only in the 60s and already I'm getting stuff like Legend of Max heavy flat x.25, and Wild Rush - pass with zero points. Yikes!
I looooove Maximizer. Not very hard at all, but lots of speed, great off-beat steps and three stops! It's a great happy song.
LoM... wow, it's hard. It fools you into thinking it's easy, because the first 30 seconds are much easier than the other Max songs... but starting about 15 seconds before the freeze (and continuing to the end), it gets really, really tough. I didn't pass, but I know because I watched it on training mode. :)
