DDR Extreme for PS2 is on the shelves!

Oh ok, i'm pretty close to getting it then I guess. I really like the Mission mode on this game because it's something different but it gets really hard after a while.

Highs Off U?! That's unexpected...I wonder if it does the same on the arcade version.

yeah i still step on those stupid arrows... ...so what? >_>

Yes sir. It's no different in the arcade.

Update: I'm still not even close to fully unlocked because I've been playing Oni and Mission modes so much.

Here's a tip for those of you struggling with the harder Mission Mode challenges: Go to DDRfreak, print out the stepchart and play from that.

This especially helps with the ones where you have to hit only 1/4 or 1/8 notes, or the ones with the "flip" mod where the stationary arrows are mixed up. For example, in the one where you have to hit only 1/4 notes during the chaotic ending of Drop Out Oni, I just highlighted the 1/4 notes on the stepchart and passed it no problem (after a dozen failures without it).

This also works for the ones where you can't hit the same arrow twice in a row. Just cross out any instances of that on the stepchart.

For the ones where you can't ever hit a certain arrow, if the stepchart thing doesn't work, I suggest you tape a thin strip of paper to your TV to cover that particular arrow.

How do you play Oni mode? I have noo clue.

Oni = Challenge. Just select Challenge from the song menu.

Oh, well I knew Oni was Challenge but I thought you were talking about like challenge songs. Nevermind, but I like Maximizer alot, I got a B on it first try, but on 1.5. It's really hard with no mods. And TLOM is a fun song to try, but I dont see me doing it anytime soon.

Edit: I take that back, Maximizer is really easy compared to some other 8 footers. *** Edited 10/11/2004 4:38:44 PM UTC by ddrxttd***

I finally got around to playing most of the songs, and honestly I think this is the best home mix to date for the US market. I'm horribly out of shape, but managed to AA Kick the Can in standard mode last night. What a great song! The steps aren't that complex, but there's a lot there and it looks cool doing it. :)

I love Kick The Can, I got an A my first time ever playing it. It's actually really easy but it appears really hard so I can impress alot of my friends when they come over. Haha. I was one boo away from a AA on that song. I was so mad.

I think Kick the Can is the easiest heavy song of all time. I got five greats on it my first try and 1 great on my third try. Both of you could probably do it on heavy easily.

I don't know if I'm ready to call this the best mix, but it certainly has the best batch of licensed songs. I think maybe DDRMAX has the best selection of Konami originals (if not Konamix).

Finally played it today at my friend's house...

Likes

-I like the new songwheel. I don't really see how someone could hate this , since it doesn't really affect much in my mind.

-I love the way that 2player can join in anytime they want, I utilized that a few times.

-I love the music videos. The ones for Jet World and Move your feet are great, and funny. The new ones for You're not here and Your Rain are very well done.

-Doubles Mode. I almost think that this game was made for Doubles play, as every song I played on doubles was at least as good or better than it's singles counterpart.

Dislikes

-The first time you play it, you are really annoyed by the interface, since it kind of hurts your eyes. The game has a lot of Dark hues

-Tons of the songs have really awful steps, and I really , really hate songs that only follow half of the music, or break up eighth not runs. Plus, this mix is suuuloooooooowww. Half the songs don't even break 130 BPM.

-Changes to Training Mode, like losing the option of slowing down songs, and the random addition of Marvellous steps. Leve the Marvelous to Oni.

-Not having the Fuwa Fuwa, .25, .5, single column, and brake mods outside of Mission mode. Those mods are awesome, and deserve to be in every song.

Mission Mode-I'm torn on this one, because lots of the songs I really love, but there are some missions that are next to impossble without some changes to your own game like putting tape on the screen, reading the steps in a mirror, etc. I really hate the missions where you have to good attack stuff, but that's something I'll just have to learn how to do.

Almost-The Karaoke Revolution Songs except Beleive, Kids in America, Ecstacy, YMCA, Keep on Movin

Kick The Can on Heavy is definately the easiest heavy song in the history of time. Some other songs I like on this is Drop Out ( From nonstop Megamix ), A on Heavy and Challenge, Maximizer Heavy, Cant Stop Fallin In Love Speed Mix Heavy, and b4u challenge. *** Edited 10/8/2004 4:44:22 PM UTC by ddrxttd***

so far, i don't like this game but that's only because i haven't played it too much yet probably, but does anyone know if they have Xenon or Cartoon Heros?

You can see song lists at www.ddrfreak.com.

Jeff - Editor - CoasterBuzz.com - My Blog

Well, Xenon was in MAX2 so I'm glad it's not on Extreme. And Cartoon Heroes is a licensed song, and, like other popular songs such as Dam Dariram and Butterly, we'll probably never see it on the PS2.

I finally unlocked V last night. I believe the Challenge steps to that song are among the best stepcharts of all time. So many crossovers, with cool gallops thrown in there, not to mention the constant jackhammer steps.

Now I'm just waiting for Maximizer... and the Trick Oni course. Stupid unlock system!

My blog You said, "I'm gonna run you down." I heard, "I'm an orangutan."
Hey Den, the way I unlocked the whole game in two days(got it on Sunday) was to go to event mode, choose the song Keep on Movin' and just keep pressing X. It will cycle through the song and you will get credits for playing. You can even change the channel if you want.

As for the Trick Oni course, you have to play the Oni mode to get that one.

Or you can beat mission mode and unlock everything.

Actually, the reason I *don't* have all the unlocks is that I've been playing Oni and Mission Mode too much. I keep trying (and failing) the Oni course that ends with A Oni.

And now that I'm on the second screen of Mission Mode, it's starting to get *really* tough. I'm only in the 60s and already I'm getting stuff like Legend of Max heavy flat x.25, and Wild Rush - pass with zero points. Yikes!

I finally unlocked the last two songs last night: Maximizer and Legend of Max.

I looooove Maximizer. Not very hard at all, but lots of speed, great off-beat steps and three stops! It's a great happy song.

LoM... wow, it's hard. It fools you into thinking it's easy, because the first 30 seconds are much easier than the other Max songs... but starting about 15 seconds before the freeze (and continuing to the end), it gets really, really tough. I didn't pass, but I know because I watched it on training mode. :)

This game is pretty awesome, but uhhh, why not just take everything from the arcade which had who knows how many songs and add a few.. that would be way cooler. I hate the new wheel and i wanna rip Go West into a million pieces. I CANT STAND IT. ALso, i think mission is like almost impossible. does anyone hav any tips on how to do the one where you hav to only step only 1/4 arrows in drop out (oni). I also wondered whyy cheat cc says all this bs about how the game has paranoia survivor max and if somone AA's a song you would get a song called like Tomorrow Perfume??? Cheat cc also says that there is Legend Road Oni course. True?? Another thing it says there is Xenon and you get it by getting an A or higher on V(oni).
question... on the oni course with A at the end. doesnt It seem as if they speed it up just a tiny bit?
