DDR Extreme for PS2 Announced!

Yesterday, Konami released a site (http://www.konami.com/ddrextreme/) on DDR Extreme for the PS2 (US version) It is promising more music and new modes of play. (cough cough Mission Mode like Ultramix cough cough :))

Also IGN has posted an article and some screens (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/461/461869p1.html?fromint=1)

(Gamespot has also posted some screens: http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/puzzle/ddrextreme/screenindex.html)

I gotta learn how to tuen links into hyper-words :)

How long before the kids on DDR Freak start complaining about how much the mix will suck? :) Oh wait... they started long before it was announced!

Are Cowgirl and Butterfly on it? Neither has shown up in a domestic home release yet.
The DDRfreak news item about this already is jam-packed with messages about how it will suck, won't have the good songs, won't be online compatible, etc.

From the screenshots, four songs have been identified. There's:

-Can't Stop Fallin' in Love Speed Mix (w00t! my favorite song of all time)
-A Stupid Barber (never heard it, but it's on the X-box version
-Sweet Sweet (Heart) Magic (an original from the arcade DDREx, though I've never played it).
-Mobo Moga (another DDREx original, and a great song)

I'm pumped about it... and I can't believe Konami is going to make us wait until fall again...

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Here's hoping it has Saints Go marching(fav song).

-----------
I'll say it again Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

It's actually Sweet Sweet (Heart) Magic from arcade MAX2. It's an awesome song and I play it a lot so I'm glad it made on to Extreme, because I was really jealous when Ultramix got it. I think you may be thinking of Love (Heart) Shine from EX, which is hopefully on there as well. It's one of my favorites, and probably one of the most fun songs there is in DDR.

I'd say Saints Go Marching has a pretty good chance of making it, but of course no one knows. I'm also stoked about Can't Stop Fallin' in Love Speed Mix.

I also hope A, Heaven is a '57 Metallic Gray, Witch Doctor, Sakura and Senorita will make it, though I'm very doubtful about Senorita.. :(

We might as well start a wish-list. Here's what I want:

TOP 10 SONGS - Sakura, Across the Nightmare, 321 Stars, Legend of Max, V, Burnin' the Floor Momo Mix, Witch Doctor, Stoic, Heaven is a '57 Metallic Gray, I Do I Do I Do.

ALSO WOULDN'T MIND HAVING - Waka Laka, A, Dam Dariram, Ska a Go Go, Freckles, Telephone Operator, Mikeneko Rock, Nori Nori Nori, Paranoia Survivor, Saint Goes Marching, I'm in the Mood for Dancing, Bye Bye Baby Balloon.

IF THERE MUST BE REPEATS, THEY SHOULD BE: Absolute, .59, R3, Drop Out, Dead End, Luv to Me, DXY!, Orion .78 Ameuro Mix.

FEATURES:
-Real nonstop random (four random songs without modifiers)
-Oni mode, but with some easier courses (i.e. not all with insane 9-footers like two-thirds of the DDRMAX Oni courses)
-.25, brake, fuwa fuwa mods (I've never played these 'cause they're only available on one, extremely hard Oni course in the arcade)
-More songs than the previous two versions (it is "extreme," after all)
-More than one set of steps for the Oni remix songs (my wife can't play these songs... and don't suggest the "little" modifier, because that's lame and you know it).

WHAT I DON'T WANT: Repeats of any songs that have already been in a PS2-specific game. Though I have a feeling that we're going to get all of the remaining Oni remixes AND the original versions, which would mean repeating Matsuri Japan, Tsugaru, Ecstacy, My Summer Love, etc.

Here it goes:

TOP 10 SONGS: Bag, Cartoon Heroes, Irresistiblement, Paranoia Survivor, Sakura, Ska A Go Go, Stoic, V, A, Freckles.

ALSO WANT: Drop Out, Dead End, DXY!, Orion Ameuro, Speed Over Beethoven, Across The Nightmare, 321 Stars, Colors.

I'm not as worried about new game modes and such because I don't play them that much. Like Den said, I don't care to have any repeats of songs already in a PS2 mix of DDR. I'd also prefer less mainstream songs than were in MAX2, because as we all know, it's the Japanese songs that everyone loves anyway. And if there are mainstream songs, at least give us some decent steps and not those that suffer from "freeze arrow syndrome".

Gamespot has posted the first trailer of the game. By the looks of the trailer (or the backround song) it will have 'Heaven is a 57 gray metallic' (I think, only tried that song once)

It's Mikeneko Rock played in the trailer, and I'm pretty sure it's for the Japanese Extreme, look at the date at the end, it's in Japanese. It also says it was posted on 10/01/03, and thats about when Extreme was released in Japan. If only it was for US Extreme..

My top 10 would be: A, Sync, Witch Doctor, Heaven is a '57, Sakura, Love Love Shine, Ska a Go Go, V, Trance De Janeiro, Aoi Shoudou.

Songs I want, but have no chance: SENORITA, Fantasy (the 9-footer), My Sweet Darlin', Nori Nori Nori, Cowgirl and Bye Bye Baby Balloon.

I'll still like it no matter what, just a little wishful thinking on my part.
